Did Romney and Bain Capital Profit at the Expense of Bain's Employees? by Gary North. By Gary North Recently by Gary North: Hangman Ben An anti-Romney attack advertisement has run on television in South Carolina.
It's long: 28 minutes. It identifies Bain Capital as a firm that made enormous profits by buying struggling firms and firing people wholesale. Two comments are in order. Nevertheless, Gingrich and at least two other candidates criticized Romney and Bain before the video was run. This was posted yesterday on one of this site's forums. I'm in agreement that sometimes companies need to shut down to stop the bleeding, that the stockholders need to be happy with their investment, or other companies purchased the parts of a bankrupt company, saving some jobs rather than allowing them all to go away.
How Harry Found Freedom in an Unfree World by Johnny Kramer. Casey Addresses Getting Out of Dodge. Interviewed by Louis James, Editor, International Speculator Recently: Doug Casey on Fresh Starts L: Doug, a lot of readers have been asking for guidance on how to know when it's time to exit center stage and hunker down in some safe place.
Few people want to hide from the world in a cabin in the woods while life goes on in the mainstream, but nobody wants to get caught once the gates clang shut on the police state the US is becoming. How do you know when it's time to go? Doug: Well, the first thing to keep in mind is that it's better to be a year too early than a minute too late. "You see," my colleague went on, "one doesn't see exactly where or how to move. Is It Time to Leave America? by Robert Wenzel. By Robert Wenzel I am asked this question more often than you would expect.
Clearly, many people are thinking things are only going to get worse and not get better any time soon in America. The short answer is that no one has to leave TODAY, but a lot of people should be preparing to leave. The world is a very complex place, as Mises and Hayek taught us. It is hard to know with exactness much too far in advance what will happen. One of the problems I have with those who ask me about leaving America is that they seem to think about it in a macro sense, that is, they assume there will come a day when there is a clear signal that everyone should leave. I don't believe that will be the case. Medical doctors are at the top of the list, in my view, of those who should be thinking about leaving the U.S. soon. Read the rest of the article. Reason-able? There have been so many little things at Reason that make me wonder, since the days where some of their writers advocated war and nation-building in Iraq.
But this takes the cake. I don’t subscribe to the magazine, so I can’t cancel the subscription, but here’s my letter to the editor: “Katherine Mangu-Ward’s repeated assurances on Fox News that “Ron Paul not going to win” are strange and emotional. Her suggestion that she somehow is part of the inner circle and Ron Paul’s own head, and can confidently say “…and Ron Paul knows he’s not going to win,” and is planning accordingly are even more outlandish, and fall into the realm of fantasy.
I have been following the campaigns of all the candidates. I’m just trying to reason this out – Paul actually does things like vote “No” on spending increases, war, debt ceiling hikes, etc. I suspect that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, among others, would also be accused by Reason Magazine for “not having a plan to be President.” Ron Paul as a Stooge for Adolph Hitler by Walter Block. Ron Paul as a Stooge for Adolph Hitler by Walter Block Recently by Walter Block: Ron Paul and the Environment Believe it or not, Congressman Paul’s critics are now claiming he is a Neville Chamberlain, who would have, were he president at the outset of World War II, have given Adolph Hitler a free ride (see here).

Fascism for Dummies by Pete Kofod. By Pete Kofod The Dollar Vigilante Here at TDV fascism is frequently referred to as the increasingly prevalent form of government in the West.
We recognize that this conjures strong emotions and we often get a few angry emails voicing displeasure with our characterization of their homeland. We understand that the word fascism is an emotionally charged word and we do not use it lightly. We recognize, however, that we have never taken the time to define it completely nor place it within the context of our communications (although Jeff did compare the USA to the dictionary definition of "fascism" in "The Fasco-Communist Police State of America"). As such, we have fallen victim to one of our own cardinal sins; letting somebody else control the thoughts by controlling the definition of the words used to define those thoughts.
The word fascism is rooted in the Latin word fasces, a Roman object made of wooden rods tightly bound by red, overlapping straps. A final note on fascism. LewRockwell.com.
