Day 11: S'mores Cookie Bars

Who says a cookie has to be round? These are probably on my list of top 3 things that I’ve EVER baked, believe it or not. They’re just that good. Crazy Domestic: Melted Snowman Cookies. I saw a picture of these the other day on Allrecipes.com and thought it was such a cute idea, I had to try it.

Kittens&cake // cupcakejunkie: (by Tracy James) Cinnamon Roll Pulls. I've been seeing a lot of different versions of this bread floating around the internet.

Cinnamon Roll Pulls

All of the versions I've seen are savory and use lots of cheese. While I love a good cheesy bread, I decided to go in a different direction and make a sweet version. I settled on a cinnamon roll version. This bread is SO addictive. We could not stop pulling off pieces of this delicious cinnamon sugar bread and popping it in our mouths.

Bite size apple pies from Taste of Home. These little pies were so much fun to make.. so EASY...and so delicious.

Bite size apple pies from Taste of Home

They went together in minutes and before long... we had fresh hot apple pie for dessert! Start to finish was maybe 20-25 minutes. I wasn't sure if I should peel the apple or leave the skin on, as the recipe didn't specify. So I left them on...I liked the texture and color it added. Strawberry rice krispie cupcake treats  - Dirty Laundry - {the blog} Friday night I did a little experiment and made strawberry rice krispie treats in cupcake shapes with strawberry icing!

strawberry rice krispie cupcake treats  - Dirty Laundry - {the blog}

My husband has been requesting using strawberry marshmallows in rice krispie treats for some time now. I didn't think it would be that good. But Friday we saw strawberry marshmallows in the grocery store and I decided to give in and try it. Then he decided he wanted strawberry icing on it to. WHAT?!? I melted one 10 oz package of strawberry marshmallows and 3 tablespoons of butter in a pot. Meanwhile I measured out six cups of rice krispies and buttered my large muffin pan.

Rolo Cookies. Red Velvet Brownies with White Chocolate Buttercream. For the past three weeks I’ve been craving a yellow butter cake with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream frosting.

Red Velvet Brownies with White Chocolate Buttercream

This post obviously isn’t about that cake. It’s about these Red Velvet Brownies with White Chocolate Frosting that I nearly had to wipe the drool off of my keyboard from when I came across the recipe. A chewy, dense, bright red (and in my opinion, all red velvet should be) brownie topped with a fluffy white chocolate buttercream frosting that actually tastes like the white chocolate I fell in love with as a child.

These are the type of brownies that will make your old Aunt Rhonda kick herself for not thinking to bring to the church picnic before her old rival, Harriett, did just that. They’ll make people swoon and clamor over each other for seconds. Make Your Own Cookie Bowls. When I saw this idea on the Wilton website I couldn’t believe how cute it was!

Make Your Own Cookie Bowls

Making cookie bowls is such a great idea for kids birthdays, elegant dinner parties, or any dessert table display. You can fill these with ice cream, pudding, berries, etc. Of course the website showcases their specialty pan but you should also be able to use a regular muffin tin. Here is the sugar cookie recipe from Wilton, for cookie dough but one reviewer said she also used refrigerator cookie dough and the result was perfect.

Valentine’s Day Hack: Make heart-shaped cupcakes with a regular tin. You don’t have to have a heart-shaped muffin tin to make fun heart-shaped muffins or cupcakes for Valentine’s Day.

Simply line a tin with paper liners, then drop a marble in between the tin and liner. (Balls of aluminum foil will also work.) Carefully fill the liners to a little over 1/2 full (overfilling will cover the heart shape effect). Bake, remove from pan, remove marbles, cool, and frost.
