A Collaborative Innovation Network , or CoIN, is a social construct used to describe innovative teams [ clarification needed ] . It has been defined by the originator of the term, Peter Gloor (a Research Scientist at MIT Sloan's Center for Collective Intelligence ) as "a cyberteam of self-motivated people with a collective vision, enabled by the Web to collaborate in achieving a common goal by sharing ideas, information, and work." COINs feature internal transparency and direct communication. Members of a COIN collaborate and share knowledge directly with each other, rather than through hierarchies.

Living labs can help establish cross-border co-operation for new, innovative and smart ICT solutions and future internet services to enhance citizens’ well-being. An international panel of SMEs and public organisations will explore the value of living labs. Concrete examples of co-operation models with stakeholders will include the Apollon and Fireball projects as well as some from the European network of living labs, which is co-organising this session. Discussions will include how public-private partnerships can be established with citizen involvement in order to develop future internet services, alongside what methods and processes should be used. SMEs and organisations dealing with future internet services and smart cities are invited to participate in this session, where the focus will be on the use of these services to improve our well-being.
