DIY Kindle Cover. When I first bought my Kindle, I followed a tutorial I found online to make my own cover.

DIY Kindle Cover

Recently both Dave and my younger sister entered the world of e-readers with their own Kindles, so I went back to the same tutorial to make them their own Kindle covers. Unfortunately the blog owner had decided to take the tutorial down for various reasons but she was happy to share a PDF of the instructions with me. To be honest, the instructions are a bit confusing. Well, sort of. Tardis Kindle Cover ∙ How To by Lauren on Cut Out. Elizabeth's Whimsies: Patchwork Kindle Cover Tutorial. I haven't been able to bring my Kindle anywhere because I'm afraid it will get scratched.

Elizabeth's Whimsies: Patchwork Kindle Cover Tutorial

Today, I decided to make a sleeve for it and decided to photograph the steps and present it as a tutorial in case anyone else wants to make one. So here goes! Patchwork Kindle Cover This cover has a finished size of 8.5 x 6 inches and fits a Kindle 7.5 x 5 inches or a similar-sized e-reader. The seam allowances are ¼ inch unless otherwise stated. Materials: four or five different fabric prints (I used coordinating Japanese linens)one 12.5 x 9 inch fabric piece for lining(I used plain linen)thin cotton batting at least 13 x 9.5 inches3/4” button4” of cotton yarn or twinesewing supplies (machine, iron, thread, pins) Procedure: 1. 2. DIY: Kindle Case. As you know, I got a Kindle for Christmas and, as it turns out, I love it. The only thing I don’t love is the the sky-high prices for cute Kindle cases. The cases from Kate Spade are around $90 each, and the other, less fun options still run about $40. So the other day, I decided to break out my sewing machine for the second time and attempt to fashion my own custom case.

I’m not going to really explain the steps because, to be honest, there was so much improvisation that it’s difficult to even recount what I did. However, I hope it inspires all of you bookworms carrying around naked Kindles, Nooks and the like, to give it a whirl. Ipad Cover Tutorial… or any laptop. Hey ya’ll!

Chalkboard Nails: Into the Glitterverse: Galaxy Nails. I've only done galaxy nails once, and they were WAAAY back in September as part of the 31 Day Challenge!

I thought I'd like to do them again; they have a really awesome effect. I started with a base of OPI Black Onyx. Then, once that was dry, I tore off bits of a triangle makeup sponge. I used the rough, torn edges to dab on tiny amounts of a few different polishes. First, I started with Nicole by OPI My Lifesaver (umm, sidenote, this may be my current polish crush).

DIY Solar USB Charger - Altoids. If we use two rechargeable AAs that put out a total of 2.4Vs we're going to need a solar panel that is at least 3 - 4Vs just to meet basic levels of charging. The higher the voltage of our solar cell (or cells) the less light we need to charge up our batteries. Now we're also trying to fit this into an Altoids Tin, so we're limited in space. I have found some great 4V solar cells that perfectly fit into Altoids Tins. They're the same ones I use with my Solar AA Altoids Charger. Sure, a bigger and better solar cell would give us added power, but it wouldn't fit into our tin. You could also use a combination of several smaller cells to get your four volts. Just remember that when charging NiMh batteries we don't want to throw more than 10% of their capacity at them at any one time. New 2 pcs 2 AA 2A Battery 3V Holder Box Case with ON/OFF Switch Black.
