Not only has the band launched their own record label, Blackened Recordings, but as of today, Metallica have taken ownership of all of their master recordings. All the way back in 1994, Metallica made a deal with Warner Music Group that on Nov. 30, 2012, the band would exclusively own all of their recordings, including all their music videos and long form videos.
According to statements from various band members, there is no ill will against Warner, the move is simply to possess full creative control of what happens with the music of Metallica from here forth. “We would like to thank everyone at the Warner Music Group for 28 years of a fantastic relationship, particularly since 1994 where we truly felt we had partners in every aspect of our business in North America,” says James Hetfield. Black Label Society Release Christmas EP, Plot Tour With Guns N’ Roses. Deck the halls and hang up your stockings (not that kind!) , ‘cuz Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society have just delivered some heartwarming Christmas jeer. In preparation of the holidays, the band recorded an EP of acoustic instrumental holiday classics called ‘Glorious Christmas Songs That Will Make Your Black Label Heart Feel Good,’ which is now available on iTunes and eOne Music. The disc features faithful covers of ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas,’ ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful World.’ While the metal community marvels at the softer side of Zakk and the Doom crew, Black Label Society will be opening up for Judas Priest, and when that’s finished the Wylde bunch will head out with Guns N’ Roses, starting Dec. 4 in Nashville, Tenn. “Get Ready for the maximum amount of rock ‘n’ roll possible in one night,” Wylde said of the tour, which will likely exclude the recently recorded Christmas songs.
