After searching the world over to find a torch that was affordable and atypical I came to the conclusion that unless I wanted wicker or bamboo, I needed to be a bit more resourceful. A glance into my recycling bin and a stroll through the local hardware store was the inspiration for this recycled wine bottle tiki torch. Here’s what you’ll need. It sounds crazy, but it’s a light bulb that’s actually being developed.
Created by Phil Bosua of San Francisco, the LIFX is a Wi-Fi enabled LED light bulb that can be wirelessly controlled using an iPhone or Android device. While Bosua imagines a plethora of home and commercial applications, it’s the bulb’s photographic potential that we find very exciting. Since the practice creation 5 years ago, inscribed within our methodology lies a belief that one should ‘build the city within the city’, by doing so, transforming the building fabric of existing commercial properties, storage depots, factories and residential buildings. The buildings face the length of a private route meaning each property owner possesses half of this space. A patio measuring 4m long by 2.20m wide was created and placed within the new buildings interior.
