(@conflicitng info)... though it's been a while (many months) since I used it (is mainly inoperable now) and I can hardly recall any specifics. I am using a new new laptop now - (this time brand new!) - and with it I bought a reduced-price version of Norton 360, which I don't much like (compared to other antivirus programs for their interfaces and features) except for its Diagnostics feature which scans system info and reprts it superbly well & usefully, so I could put one of the remaining two spare licences for my Norton software onto the Dell and print/save-to-disk the file report. then I'll have a bit more proper-technical-info to tell anyone if I try to pursue what went wrong (was wrong from the start then just got drastically worse).
