Friedensreich Hundertwasser Friedrich Stowasser (* Vienne, 15 décembre 1928; † Nouvelle-Zélande, 19 février 2000à bord du "Queen Elizabeth 2"), mieux connu sous le nom de Friedensreich Hundertwasser, était un artiste, un peintre, un penseur et un architecte autrichien ou plutôt comme il l'a annoncé dans son manifeste prononcé le 24 janvier 1990, un médecin de l'architecture.
Il invente son nom d'artiste à partir de Frieden qui signifie «paix» et Reich «le royaume» ou bien reich «riche», Friedensreich se traduisant donc par le «Royaume de la paix» ou «riche en paix». Sto étant le mot tchèque pour «cent» (hundert en allemand) et wasserse traduisant par «eau», Hundertwasser veut donc dire «cent eaux». Dans le premier cas, la mise bout-à-bout des deux termes donne : «Le royaume de la paix (aux) cent eaux». Hundertwasser aimait souvent à citer la traduction japonaise de son nom (hyaku-sui).

Vasily Ivanovich Surikov (Васи́лий Ива́нович Су́риков) (January 24, 1848 (Julian calendar: January 12) – March 19, 1916 (Julian calendar: March 6)) was the foremost Russian painter of large-scale historical subjects. His major pieces are among the best-known paintings in Russia. Surikov was born in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, where a monument to him was recently opened by his great-grandsons, Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovsky.
In 1869-1871 he studied under Pavel Chistyakov at the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1877, Surikov settled in Moscow, where he contributed some imposing frescoes to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Main works[edit] External links[edit]
