About. Just Give Me The Damn Manual is a website owned and operated by one man as a side project. I created this site to be a no-BS, grab-n-go comprehensive database of automotive owners manuals. Just Give Me The Damn Manual does not require you to: register an accountsign up for an emailing listlog in through social mediaforce you to watch adsredirect you to spammy websitesrequire you to fill out surveys. I just give you the damn manual. That’s it. Q: What’s your email address? A: JustGiveMeTheDamnManual@GMX.com Q: Why don’t you have X make and X model from X year? A: I am working on it. Q: What years do you typically cover? Q: You’re missing a lot of Toyota manualsA: Toyota manuals are by far the absolute hardest to get a hold of. Q: I have an owners manual that you don’t have on your site, would you like it?

Q: This site is very helpful, anyway I could show my support? Q: Do you have the physical copies for sale? Any other questions you can email me or just leave a comment here. ProRes, and 10-bit vs. 8-bit video -- what's the difference? Avid's DNxHD codec and Apple's ProRes are both riffs on the Cineform theme of high-quality digital intermediate codecs for editing.

Both offer more efficient compression than some competitors (especially at larger frame sizes), plus 4:2:2 chroma subsampling (which provides greater color fidelity than DV's 4:1:1 subsampling or MPEG's 4:2:0).  But the advantage of one of the other cool features -- support for 10-bit color depth -- has gone largely misunderstood or overlooked.  [Ed.: Some readers have asked me to emphasize that BOTH DNxHD and ProRes offer 10-bit color depth.  Apologies for any confusion.] For starters, it's worth pointing out that each of the "extras" that ProRes confers may at first seem irrelevant: after all, broadcast NTSC still (for another month or so) uses YCbCr, and broadcast ATSC and DVB still use a variant of MPEG-2, with all the associated limitations.  Don't be fooled, though. But enough of that ... more on bit depth specifically after the jump. However, General MIDI does not actually define the way the sound will be reproduced, only the name of that sound. Though this can obviously result in wide variations in performance from the same song data on different GM sound sources, the authors of General MIDI felt it important to allow each manufacturer to have their own ideas and express their personal aesthetics when it comes to picking the exact timbres for each sound.

Each manufacturer must insure that their sounds provide an acceptable representation of song data written for General MIDI. Guidelines for developing GM compatible sound sets and song data are available through the MMA. The names of the instruments indicate what sort of sound will be heard when that instrument number (MIDI Program Change or "PC#") is selected on the GM1 synthesizer.

LAME is able to encode your music using one of its 3 encoding modes: constant bitrate (CBR), average bitrate (ABR) and variable bitrate (VBR). Constant Bitrate (CBR) This is the default encoding mode, and also the most basic. In this mode, the bitrate will be the same for the whole file.

It means that each part of your mp3 file will be using the same number of bits. The musical passage beeing a difficult one to encode or an easy one, the encoder will use the same bitrate, so the quality of your mp3 is variable. Complex parts will be of a lower quality than the easiest ones. Average Bitrate (ABR) In this mode, you choose the encoder will maintain an average bitrate while using higher bitrates for the parts of your music that need more bits. Variable bitrate (VBR) In this mode, you choose the desired quality on a sqale from 9 (lowest quality/biggest distortion) to 0 (highest quality/lowest distortion). Google Taking Down Private Videos For Copyright Infringement? Vampire Power Causes" In the average U.S. home, 25 percent of electricity use by home electronics occurs while the products are off [source: Pogue]. Is this power used for anything? Do electronics manufacturers hate the environment? Vampire power causes usually include one of the following: The gadget, such as a cell-phone AC adapter, constantly supplies a charge, even if the batteries are fully charged or if nothing is plugged into it. Many AC adapters, nicknamed wall warts by some critics, waste as much as 50 percent of the power they use [source: Office of the Ohio Consumers' Council].The gadget uses electricity to power a display screen, an external time display or an internal clock.

Vampire power has been on the rise during the past decade, thanks to the proliferation of rechargeable gadgets, computer networks and devices with standby power functions. All this energy use enacts quite a hefty toll on the environment. Encrypting Your Hard Drive No Longer Works Against US Federal Prosecution. Sometimes common “street smarts” fail you. Like when you ask the guy who’s selling you drugs if he’s a cop.

Or when you encrypt your hard drive and refuse to unlock it for prosecutors while citing the self-incriminating clause of the Fifth Amendment. A federal court judge has just ruled that being forced to decrypt one’s hard drive during prosecution does not violate the defendants’s Fifth Amendment rights. The ruling stems from a case against Ramona Fricosu, who is charged with mortgage fraud. She has refused to decrypt the contents of her hard drive arguing that doing so would require her to essentially testify against herself. Nuh-uh, said judge Robert Blackburn, citing an earlier ruling against one Sebastien Boucher.

In that case, the courts decided that, while Boucher’s encryption password was certainly protected, the information on his drive could be considered evidence in the case and was therefore not subject to the same liberties. Hacker 10 – Security Tips (Build 20111221031226) Comparison of MP3 and AAC (Anders Jacobsen's blog) (Build 20111126031027) January 20, 2004 Comparison of MP3 and AAC I got my iPod hooked up to my PC last night after installing Win 2000 SP4. ITunes installed nicely and found all my existing mp3s. Now the real job starts: I've got over 300 CDs back home, and of course they're all going to go on to the iPod over the next months. iTunes proposes to rip in both AAC and MP3 formats, and from before I have a few Ogg Vorbis files, more out of curiousity (and those won't play on the iPod, so that's a goner), and this leaves me with the following question: Which format should I choose for putting my record collection on to my iPod?

The iPod homepage says: Designed to give you the best portable digital music experience ever, the iPod delivers the highest sound quality from input to output. iPod supports the most popular audio formats — including MP3 (up to 320 kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and WAV — giving you access to a wide range of audio file types. First, you are concerned about your privacy and don’t want Facebook to personalize your browsing or to give away your information to third-party sites. In this case, besides using the tools listed below, don’t forget to edit your privacy settings (to be on the safe side): navigate Account -> Privacy Settings -> Edit Your Settings (below Applications and Websites) -> Edit settings (Next to Instant personalization).

Secondly, you are not on Facebook and/or you are just fed up with seeing the Facebook buttons and widgets around the web and you want to de-clutter your experience. Like ad banners, social media widgets have become a major annoyance to many surfers: for example, they may slow down the performance and result in a slower browsing and longer waiting. As a website owner, I do understand why we would want to get better connected to our readers through various social media channels, but I do accept the point of those who don’t want to see the widgets all over the web. Think about how much reading you do every day. Perhaps you read the newspaper to catch up with what's going on in the world.

You browse countless emails from colleagues. When you look at it, reading could be the work-related skill that you use most often! Maybe not. But what does becoming a better reader involve? How We Read Although you spend a good part of your day reading, have you ever thought about how you read? When you actually think about it, reading is quite a complex skill. Scientists now believe that each of your eyes lock onto a different letter at the same time, usually two characters apart. Advantages of Speed Reading Many people read at an average rate of 250 words per minute. However, imagine if you could double your rate to 500 words per minute.

Another important advantage of speed reading is that you can better comprehend the overall structure of an argument. Note: Regression Tip: Airplanes in the Night Sky Font. DVDVideoSoft.com: Download free DVD, iPod, YouTube video converter and editor software and freeware. 10 Minute Mail.

Optical Radiation Hazard Measurement — International Light Technologies (Build 20111121092346) International Light Technologies (ILT) has designed a selection of systems to measure almost any Optical Radiation Hazard application as defined by ICNIRP, ACGIH and EU Directive 2006/25/EC. Please SCROLL DOWN to review our selection of optical radiation hazard light measurement systems. Sources emitting optical radiation are of paramount concern to hygienists, safety engineers, and public health officials, both from their beneficial effects and their potential as a hazard to health and safety.

International Light Technologies has a long history measuring optical hazard radiation. ILT's first product for these measurements, the (ILT)ACT5 filter, was based on the ICNIRP* / ACGIH* spectral sensitivity function. Our product offering in this area has expanded to include products for testing based on EU Directive 2006/25/EC*. Many common light sources can produce various damaging health conditions Even the smaller, less focused beams caused by scattering pose potential hazards.

Artificial Lighting and the Blue Light Hazard (Build 20111121092346) Research continues to warn about the danger of sunlight to the eyes. Doctors wisely respond by recommending eye protection while outdoors during daylight. Curiously, however, some lighting manufacturers say lamps duplicating sunshine are good for vision and eye health. This presents a quandary that needs to be addressed. Who is right? What is Light? (Fig. 1) As illustrated in Figure 1, the “visible light spectrum” is that small part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum seen as colors.

The retina is a very thin, multi-layered tissue located at the back of the eyeball. (Fig. 2) As shown in Figure 3, light first enters the optic (or nerve) fiber layer and the ganglion cell layer, under which most of the nourishing blood vessels of the retina are located. (Fig. 3) The light is received by photoreceptor cells called rods (responsible for peripheral and dim light vision) and cones (providing central, bright light, fine detail, and color vision). Watt: Top 5 Free OCR Software Tools To Convert Images Into Text (Build 20111120031001) Quite frankly, I wish I knew about this simple way to use freely available OCR software back in my school days. Of course, we didn’t have camera mobile phones or inexpensive Digicams, but wouldn’t it have saved hours of copying notes! Ah, modern technology is wonderful; take a scanned image (or take a snap using a mobile camera/Digicam) and presto – OCR software extracts all the information from the image into easily editable text format.

Optical character recognition (OCR) is a system of converting scanned printed/handwritten image files into its machine readable text format. OCR software works by analyzing a document and comparing it with fonts stored in its database and/or by noting features typical to characters. Some OCR software also puts it through a spell checker to “guess” unrecognized words. 100% accuracy is difficult to achieve, but close approximation is what most software strive for. On a dark and stormy night, an employee of your local bookstore strolls into your home, starts tossing books you'd purchased over the last few years into a box, and — despite your protest — takes them all away without saying a word. Thankfully that's not what happened to Linn Jordet Nygaard. Well, not exactly. The Norwegian woman found herself on the wrong side of bureaucracy, but the outcome was much the same (without as much mud on the carpet): Amazon turned off her Kindle account, blocking her from her own books. And they wouldn't tell her why. "Two weeks ago my Kindle started showing stripes on the screen and I contacted Amazon support," Nygaard told NBC News. Nygaard was pleased with Amazon's prompt service, she told us, even though this was her second Kindle to fall victim to "stripes" on the ePaper screen.

But when Nygaard attempted to log into her Amazon account the next day, her account was suspended — and with it access to her library of 43 books. And it probably won't be. Why Amazon is within its rights to remove access to your Kindle books. Credit: Prescotte There has been a fair amount of indignation directed towards Amazon over the last couple of days. Amazon deleted Norwegian IT Consultant Linn Nygaard’s Amazon account and removed access to the Kindle books she had purchased. Martin Bekkelund blogged how Amazon closed her account and wiped her Kindle. It offered no explanation as to why it had done so.

Although it smacks of poor customer service, Amazon is completely within its rights to do this.
