Com mais de 80 obras, das quais 36 integram esta exposição, a Coleção reúne trabalhos de 1973 – quando a fotografia se consolida como linguagem artística – até 2007, com exemplares das mais relevantes linhas de trabalho, como a apropriação de objetos identificada na produção de Richard Prince ou Vik Muniz, as reflexões sobre o corpo e a identidade em Marina Abramovich e Cindy Sherman, ou as imagens da escola alemã, baseada na obra de Bernd e Hilla Becher e de seus alunos Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth e Cândida Höffer.

In 1863, when Julia Margaret Cameron was 48 years old, her daughter gifted her a camera and thus began her career as a photographer. Studying under David Wilkie Wynfield, she created portraits with unprecedented intimacy. They were under-appreciated in their time, the softness and intentional lack of focus led to ridicule from her contemporaries. But Cameron stuck to her guns, photographing obsessively. Her seriousness extended to protecting and preserving her images too and she registered them all at the copyright office.
