Stay In Your Body

It’s in the body and it is the body. To be with it, to experience it, to feel it, we need to learn to stay in the body. We need to establish a relationship, a connection with our body. It’s an intimacy with our body, an intimacy beyond words, beyond thought, beyond the mind. It’s a quiet knowing. It speaks to us in the silence, in the stillness. It has a language we learn in this space. We learn it in movement, in touch. We learn it in the space between breaths. We learn it in the endless space within us. It’s a connection that is a connection to life through the elements within us that are the elements of the stars. Overcoming Body Stiffness. A Stiff Body Doesn't Have to Be Your Future.

Embrace Interoception Through Body Awareness.

When we train, we don’t often think about what we are experiencing.

Embrace Interoception Through Body Awareness

We simply grab the bar and go, assuming that all parts are contributing the way they are supposed to, and not caring what we feel or what supports us. The lack of internal awareness moves us further away from a meaningful connection with how our body works. Sometimes, it results in the development of specific movement habits and/or the sense our structure isn’t fully supporting us as we move outside of the gym. Internal sensing is more than just what happens in our muscles. Interoception, a fancy word that means sensing the physiological state of the body, helps us understand when we are feeling fatigued, if our heart rate is elevated unnecessarily, and how we are breathing.1 It is a term that links our physical selves to our emotional selves, since what we are experience at a physiological level is influenced by what happens on an emotional level.

20 voices on embodiment? Can embodiment be explained in words?

Can it be explained? We asked 20 yogis and dancers from around the world. If you’ve been to a yoga or dancing class, you’ve probably heard the word embodiment. Or the expression “being in your body”. But what is it, really? Has anyone been able to explain it to you in an understandable way? If you’re struggling with the meaning, you’re not alone. Some teachers say it cannot even be explained.
