I spotted these little lollipops sold by Sweet Style in Australia (featured in yesterday's post) and was charmed by their simplicity and size. I did a little searching and wasn’t able to find them available stateside, so I thought “what the heck, the laundry can wait another day, I’m making lollipops!” There are a lot awesome things about making these yourself – you can control the color, size and most importantly what goes in them.

I am not a fan of artificial flavorings, so I used Boyajian natural orange oil that made these taste as good as they look. I added a pinch of Disco Dust to add a little sparkle (fullfilling my New Year’s resolution to be more sparkley). A few words about working with really hot sugar: Working with sugar is super fun, but can also be a bit dangerous (maybe that’s why I like it!). As I have stated once or twice, I love Nutella and I’m pretty certain you could smear the stuff on a piece of cardboard and I’d be completely content!

Taking a simple chocolate cupcake recipe and filling the middle with that awesome Nutella lusciousness, definitely quenches that hazelnut craving that I get more frequently than I’d like to admit. Top off with Nutella buttercream, and these are truly irresistible to those Nutella fanatics that I know are plentiful! Just a word of caution…these babies are rich, so have a glass of milk near by and don’t be tempted to eat more than one in a single sitting. This post is not your typical MBA post; meaning it’s not a complete recipe. But it’s like a cookie on top of another cookie! Yeah. Like total dirty cookie on cookie action. Except these ones down below wanted to try a few different positions. I dunno… they’re all mixed up. In order to solve a common I-want-a-chocolate-CHOCOLATE-cookie-but-he-wants-a-plain-chocolate chip-cookie dilemma that happens like, every single weekend here… I made both. On top of each other. Some of them smashed up against each other while others sat on top of each other but in the end, they all tasted… fantabulous. And then they tasted extra delicious after I spent two hours cleaning out the contents of our bar (take that as you will), after he spent three hours organizing the pantry (that was weird) and after we both needed to severely eat our emotions immediately post-Boardwalk Empire finale. WHAT was that. ??????? Why??? Then I tried to dunk a cookie in milk and failed. I need cookie dunking lessons, a redo on season 2 (thanks HBO), and a salad.

With a bucket full of fresh cherries and a package of premade pie crust in the fridge, my kids and I had plans to make a batch of Homemade Cherry Poptarts. But, my clever 7-year-old, Alyssa, had an even better idea, “How ’bout we make little poptarts and put them on a stick like Cinderella?” ‘Cinderella’ here isn’t the fairy tale princess, it’s my Alyssa’s favorite blogger (and one of mine)–the delightsome Angie Dudley of Bakerella–creator of the original cupcake pop, and author of the new book Cake Pops . Bakerella’s original idea for a cupcake-on-a-stick was an overnight sensation, landing her a guest spot on the Martha Stewart Show, and a mulitude of other incredible opportunities to collaborate with top-notch companies.

It’s no wonder. Bakerella has a remarkable ability to create adorable ideas using everyday items: mini M&M’s, Necco Wafers, colored sprinkles. Her attention to detail is impeccable.
