Williams, 45, a California unemployed carpenter on parole for two bank robberies, strapped on body armor, assembled an arsenal, including a shotgun, rifle and handgun and headed out in his mother’s Toyota Tundra Pickup with the intention of murdering innocent people, having a “left-wing agenda” at the San Francisco-based ACLU office and the environmental Tides Foundation. Luckily, he was stopped by the California Highway Patrol for speeding and driving erratically, before he reached his destination.

Oakland resident Tuolumne County man Byron Williams, 45, arrested for a shootout with CHP on Saturday , "was reportedly heading to San Francisco to target individuals at liberal nonprofit the Tides Foundation and the ACLU," reports KTVU . “This was his plan. This is what he stated to us,” said Oakland police spokesperson Jeff Thomason. “And we're just lucky that the CHP stopped him when they did, or he could have killed people.”

The right-wing media initially praised Andrew Breitbart for his "great work" in publishing a video which he said depicted the supposed "racism" of then-Obama administration official Shirley Sherrod. However, Breitbart's claims quickly unraveled when more information about the incident emerged and the full, unedited video was released. On the July 20 edition of his radio show, Rush Limbaugh stated : "Andrew Breitbart's done great work getting this video."
Okay, Robert Gibbs made a really interesting point at the briefing just now: He delicately pointed out to the assembled reporters that their news organizations had also been too quick to accept the Breitbart video at face value. This is important, because it hints at a frustration inside the White House that it rarely voices publicly: White House officials are often forced to respond to stories ginned up by the right because other news orgs too readily give them credibility . The key moment came when Gibbs was asked by a reporter if the moral of this story is "don't trust the internet." Gibbs replied that news organizations had asked the White House for a response to Breitbart's two-and-a-half-minute video, when the speech was more than 43 minutes long.

In her meandering speech to what appears to be an all-black audience, this federally appointed executive bureaucrat lays out in stark detail, that her federal duties are managed through the prism of race and class distinctions.

The author said that if Israel truly wants to be part of the West then it will have to end its occupation of Palestinian territories and accused Israelis of being "unbelievably irresponsible" (via Daily Dish ): In order for Israel to become part of the alliance against whatever we want to call it, religious barbarism, theocratic, possibly thermonuclear theocratic or nuclear theocratic aggression, it can't, it'll have to dispense with the occupation. It's as simple as that. It can be, you can think of it as a kind of European style, Western style country if you want, but it can't govern other people against their will.

Bernanke advised Congress on Wednesday not to precipitously cut stimulus spending in a drive to rein in the deficit, but rather focus on longer-range budget reforms that will reduce the deficit in the next five years but not immediately threaten economic growth. Mr. Bernanke told the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee that the central bank is reviewing its own options for further stimulating economic growth “if the recovery seems to be faltering,” although he insisted that he still expects moderate growth of 3 percent to 3.5 percent for the rest of the year. His remarks confirmed fears in financial markets that the economy recently took a turn for the worse, and sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average down by more than 100 points.

Now that U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann has gained approval for a Tea Party Caucus in the House, the next question is who will join the group. The Minnesota Republican tweeted Monday that her proposal for the caucus received official sanction from the House Administration Committee, despite earlier speculation that Democratic antipathy to tea partyers could doom the request. Committee Chairman Robert Brady, a Pennsylvania Democrat, told Bachmann in a July 16 letter that her caucus could not use funds to pursue a legislative agenda, according to The Hill. Bachmann, who will chair the caucus, proposed the group without consulting the GOP leadership.Fifteen years ago today, thousands of Muslims were being slaughtered in Europe.
