Marine Metadata Interoperability. The Marine Metadata Interoperability (MMI) Guides are intended to help researchers and data managers learn about metadata; encourage best practices in metadata development, interoperation, and distribution; foster community involvement in this process; and facilitate technical understanding of the role and importance of marine metadata.

Marine Metadata Interoperability

Experienced scientists, technologists, and publishers have distilled the more complex aspects of marine metadata into these documents. To start, read How to Use the Guides on getting the most out of the material and how to cite the guides. If you need additional information, or if you'd like to contribute your experiences with marine metadata, contact us by e-mail. - MMI Guides Editorial Group To cite an individual guide, please follow the citation example found on that guide page. Web Bluetooth. 1.

Web Bluetooth

Introduction This section is non-normative. Bluetooth is a standard for short-range wireless communication between devices. Bluetooth "Classic" (BR/EDR) defines a set of binary protocols and supports speeds up to about 24Mbps. Bluetooth 4.0 introduced a new "Low Energy" mode known as "Bluetooth Smart", BLE, or just LE which is limited to about 1Mbps but allows devices to leave their transmitters off most of the time. BLE defines multiple roles that devices can play. A device acting in either the Peripheral or Central role can host a GATT Server, which exposes a hierarchy of Services, Characteristics, and Descriptors. The first version of this specification allows web pages, running on a UA in the Central role, to connect to GATT Servers over either a BR/EDR or LE connection. 1.1. To discover and retrieve data from a standard heart rate monitor, a website would use code like the following: onHeartRateChanged() might log an object like function resetEnergyExpended() { if (!

ISO

A standard is a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose. We published over 21000 International Standards that can be purchased from the ISO store or from our members. What are the benefits of ISO International Standards? ISO International Standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. For business, they are strategic tools that reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors, and increasing productivity. FOSS Open Standards/Introduction. What are Standards and Why are They Important?

[edit] The word "standard" has several different meanings. Working within the context of the subject matter of this document, its meaning in everyday usage[1],[2] can be taken to refer to: a level of quality or attainment, oran item or a specification against which all others may be measured. 2016 Comparison Guide on Network, Wireless Comms, Security, Industrial. Rather than trying to fit all of the IoT Protocols on top of existing architecture models like OSI Model, we have broken the protocols into the following layers to provide some level of organization: Infrastructure (ex: 6LowPAN, IPv4/IPv6, RPL)Identification (ex: EPC, uCode, IPv6, URIs)Comms / Transport (ex: Wifi, Bluetooth, LPWAN)Discovery (ex: Physical Web, mDNS, DNS-SD)Data Protocols (ex: MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, Websocket, Node)Device Management (ex: TR-069, OMA-DM)Semantic (ex: JSON-LD, Web Thing Model)Multi-layer Frameworks (ex: Alljoyn, IoTivity, Weave, Homekit) SecurityIndustry Vertical (Connected Home, Industrial, etc) Infrastructure IPv6 - "IPv6, is an Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched internetworking and provides end-to-end datagram transmission across multiple IP networks. 6LoWPAN - "6LoWPAN is an acronym of IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks.
