Every member of a forum belongs to a membergroup. A membergroup consists of members that you pick the members to be a part of and you choose the permissions allowed to the membergroup. There are two types of membergroups. A post count based membergroup: Where the member's post count will determine the membergroup the member is put in. A regular membergroup: Where the administrator hand picks the members that are part of the group. SMF Notify Group. Thanks again for the response.
Yes, re question # 1, as you know from all the other posts on this subject, when there are a minimal amount of members, i.e. a corporations' "board of directors" (7), requesting each of them to click "Notify" for each Board and also, ensuring that "each" topic has the checkbox enabled to "Notify me of replies", may not be guaranteed. Ideally, a feature to enable "ALL" Form Boards and "ALL" Topics on a per Group basis would seem logical. Or, perhaps the ability to set a DEFAULT that whenever a NEW Board or a NEW Topic or a REPLY to a Topic is created, it would automaticaly set the notifications to TRUE for a particular group.
Having read all the past posts on this subject, I understand and agree that it would be foolish to use this type of update on a large member Forum but it appears there are a vast number of users with forums that don't fall into that category. However, many people aren't aware of how many options there are, or that this is even available. So, here's a list of available options and what they do... First, make sure you've enabled the feeds: Admin -> News and Newsletters -> SettingsCheck the box next to "Enable XML/RSS News".The "Maximum post length" value determines how many characters of a post are output in the feeds.
