In 2018, Learn How To Be Alone

Make 2018 the year you let go of the wreckage the past has caused and bled onto your heart. Make this the year you turn all your hurt into growth. And make 2018 the year you slowly learn how to be happy on your own. In 2018, focus on your strengths instead of your weaknesses. Don’t let your negative thoughts turn into a reality and don’t let your demons from the past pull you under.

Realize that you can begin again. Sure, you can sit at a cafe by yourself.

9 Signs Of Emotional Maturity

In several years of helping people improve their self-awareness, self-efficacy and self-esteem, here are nine commonalities I notice become more evident as my clients grow: 1. You notice and verbalize (with composure) when you're wrong. It's far easier to get defensive and deny responsibility, or become overwhelmed with shame for our act of imperfection or ignorance.

I'm a white, able-bodied, heterosexual, educated, employed, English-speaking, fully-cognitive, physically and emotionally healthy Canadian of child-bearing age living in a safe neighborhood. Sure, I sometimes use my privilege in ways that don't actively help our society. 4. 5. 6. Judgment is at the heart of hate. 7. 8. 9. SHARE SHARES 5.1k.

And despite this, even when you feel ready to take a bold step into the unknown, others will likely try to talk you out of it.

Will You Have the Friends You Need When You Need Them the Most?

Who are your intention holders -- those friends who are there for you no matter what, as confidantes and cheerleaders as you overcome adversity or celebrate accomplishments? In today's busy, hyper-connected world, heart-to-heart friendships can seem impossible. But if you're intentional, you can create and maintain a support system of women to turn to as curators of support, companionship and love. After interviewing dozens of women for our book, Women I Want to Grow Old With, we learned that the urgencies of the moment -- work, family, volunteer or community commitments -- often prevent women from reaching out to sustain friendships or create new ones.
