We all need to let the light of Jesus shine to show others how Jesus has transformed our lives, for only together can we fulfill God’s plan. We all need to let the light of Jesus shine. If we let it extinguish, we become more susceptible to worldly things coming in to fill the void. The same is true in science. A lit candle that sits is a pool of water is extinguished when a vase is placed over it. What is light? “For God, Who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, made His Light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

" 2 Corinthians 4:6 “God is Light; in Him there is no darkness.” 1 John 1:5 “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.” Light of Jesus Experiment: Rubber Ball Experiment: AstroblasterTM (available at Bag Experiment: Light the candle and use drops of wax to adhere candle to center of dish. 1. 6. 11. Pins are sins | the paquettes. Last night we had family night and learned about how sin will blind us to God’s truth. God will show us what we need to change when we ask Him to. James particularly focused on the sin of treating your sister and/or brother wrongly. He used the verse 1 John 2:10-11. ” Whoever loves his brother(sister) lives in light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.

But whoever hates his brother(sister) is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.” We talked about how people who are blind can’t see and need to have help to know where to go. And that we can also be spiritually blind, (we begin to do things that we know we shouldn’t do and no longer feel bad about doing them), and need to ask for help from God.

Sometimes when we sin and keep on sinning, God let’s us become blind to His plan for us. Then we used the visuals to help. The pins represent sin. Like this: Like Loading...

Here's a little video of our experiment. Stay Away, Sin! - Children's Ministry. Holding on to Sin lesson. Banana object lessons about sin. LESSON: Our faith in God is only as strong as our faith in the bible as God's word. SUMMARY: In this exercise, several unbelievable tasks will be performed that will be viewed as miraculous. These include opening a banana and finding it already peeled, submerging a hand in a jar of water and pulling it out completely dry, and using a playing card to prevent water spilling out of a glass of water even when completely turned upside-down and the card removed. However, these tasks are but tricks of science. The miraculous events in the bible, though, are true miracles, that by definition exceed scientific explanation.

The belief that these biblical events occurred as written in the bible is pivotal to building a connection to God; our faith in God is only as strong as our faith in the bible as God's word. What is a miracle? "Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” 1. Children. Know vs Do | Everyday object lessons. Submitted by: Robin Guthrie After many lessons on explaining a testimony, I did this for my YW class: I played a game with the YW with about 20 questions of general and interesting things to know about the organization, history and doctrines of the Church (Some easy and some a little harder and interesting. ie–How old was Joseph Smith when he received the First Vision?

How old was Pres. Monson when he was called to the Quorum of the 12? Who is the current prophet?) We played this game for most of class time, and then the last question I asked was “What is the difference between knowing the answers to these questions and a testimony?” Then I talked to them about the story behind “I am a Child of God” song. Trusting God

Trusting God. Genesis 12:1-4a • Psalm 121Romans 4:1-5, 13-17 • John 3:1-17 There is that part of human nature that leads us to question. A great deal of religion revolves around two words: Trust and Obey. In the wrong hands, reliance on trust and obedience can be disastrous. It leads to cults like the Jim Jones group suicide a few decades ago. That’s the extreme example. Less extreme is the everyday tendency to trust church leaders for no other reason than they are church leaders. The reliance on trust and obedience may be the root of church decline. Today’s scriptures juxtapose two key Bible figures that illustrate the extremes of trust and obey vs questioning what we hear. Abraham Early in biblical history, Abram (soon to be Abraham) trusted. He would display the same trust when God told him to sacrifice his favorite son, Isaac. Things worked out pretty well for Abraham.

A few thousand years passed between Abraham and Nicodemus. Nicodemus Nicodemus had a front row seat for some of Jesus’ ministry. Also, don’t forget to take a couple minutes to view the video “Unchanging” by Chris Tomlin that is posted to the right. It reminds us that we can trust God because He is unchanging. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 “And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” Trust God; He is the Stronghold Psalm 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
