Logisim. Screen shot of Logisim 2.7.0 Note: Further Logisim development is suspended indefinitely. [More information] (11 Oct 2014) Logisim is an educational tool for designing and simulating digital logic circuits. With its simple toolbar interface and simulation of circuits as you build them, it is simple enough to facilitate learning the most basic concepts related to logic circuits. With the capacity to build larger circuits from smaller subcircuits, and to draw bundles of wires with a single mouse drag, Logisim can be used (and is used) to design and simulate entire CPUs for educational purposes. Logisim is used by students at colleges and universities around the world in many types of classes, ranging from a brief unit on logic in general-education computer science surveys, to computer organization courses, to full-semester courses on computer architecture.

Back to my home page Fig 1: 3DR Quadcopter Contents This article will walk you through building your own controller whilst teaching you the details of how it works. This information is hard to find, particarly for those of us who are not aerospace engineers! Personally, it took me six months because much of my time was spent bug hunting and tuning, but with this article you can achieve the same in anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Fig 2: ArduPilot hardware The first shortcut is your choice of hardware.

The ArduPilot project is sponsored by 3D Robotics - this means that they build the hardware and sell it for a small profit, and then feed some of this profit back to the community. In this article, I am going to assume you have the ArduPilot hardware which is essentially an Arduino with attached sensors. Fig 3: Propellor Configuration I'm also going to assume you have some experience with the arduino - or atleast with C/C++. Messenger Bags - Andrew Maxwell-Parish. The Buzo Bag I've been making canvas messenger bags for friends and myself for about 6 years.

I am currently playing around with embedding hidden LEDs in the back flap of the bag. This bag has twenty charlieplexed LEDs arranged in a 4X5 matrix and controlled by five pins on an Arduino Lilypad. Each LED is individually controllable and, using persistance of vision, the Lilypad can turn on any or all at once. The electronics are sewed onto a removable piece of fabric to allow for washing or avoiding any hassle with the TSA. The Sound Square. SparkFun Electronics.

If you have not been following the previous posts regarding this unusual headphone amplifier/Pre amp project, here they are...

Although admitably not the best quality, I decided to use these particular jacks sockets from an old sound blaster live sound card, due to the fact I could seal them properly to stop an ingress of resin. (The below picture has been Mirrored) Pre Casting tests....... Both of the audio Jack Socket sides were removed during the sealing process, the sides were then replaced after applying resin around all the edges Resin was also dripped around all the connections pins around the bottom, to ensure an airtight seal. More resin was used around the bottom of the DC jack.I am hoping the extra resin will not show much in the finished casting. To elevate the circuit within the casting, I soldered a couple of wire riser's on the virtual ground running down the middle of the amplifier. Making the Mould .... The folding lines were scored with the craft knife, to assist bending. End mills - ShapeOko. Good info about end mills on BuildYourCNC (Following information is from the enco website) End Mill Selection Summary Select the shortest possible end mill for the greatest rigidity Select two or three flutes for slotting or heavy stock removal Select multiple flutes for finishing and greater rigidity Use the largest diameter possible for added strength and rigidity Use cobalt, PM/Plus, and carbide for tougher and harder materials, and for high production applications Apply coatings for higher feeds, speeds, and tool life End Mill Composition High Speed Steel (HSS) Provides good wear resistance and costs less than cobalt or carbide end mills.

HSS is used for general purpose milling of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Cobalt (M-42: 8% Cobalt) Provides better wear resistance, higher hot hardness and toughness than high speed steel. A cost effective alternative to solid carbide, powdered metal is tougher and less prone to breakage. Solid Carbide Carbide-Tipped End Mill Types Coarse Tooth. With Q1,Q2=2N3055 and T1= 15 A, the inverter can supply about 300 watts. Larger transformers and more powerful transistors can be substituted for T1, Q1 and Q2 for more power. The easiest and least expensive way to get a large T1 is to re-wind an old microwave transformer.

These transformers are rated at about 1KW and are perfect. Go to a local TV repair shop and dig through the dumpster until you get the largest microwave you can find. An exploration into the possibilities for individual construction and customization of the most ubiquitous of electronic devices, the cellphone. By creating and sharing open-source designs for the phone’s circuit board and case, we hope to encourage a proliferation of personalized and diverse mobile phones. Freed from the constraints of mass production, we plan to explore diverse materials, shapes, and functions. We hope that the project will help us explore and expand the limits of do-it-yourself (DIY) practice.

How close can a homemade project come to the design of a cutting edge device? What are the economics of building a high-tech device in small quantities? The initial prototype combines a custom electronic circuit board with a laser-cut plywood and veneer enclosure. Files The source code, circuit design files (Eagle), and case design files (Inkscape) are hosted in the damellis/cellphone repository on GitHub.

People David Mellis Photos (see more on Flickr ) Biquad Antenna Construction. Biquad Antenna Construction (first published September 2002) This page details the construction of a biquad antenna. The biquad antenna is easy to build, and provides a reliable 11dBi gain, with a fairly wide beamwidth. Background completed biquad antenna I've done quite a bit of experimentation and testing with various home made dipoles for 24dBi Conifer dishes, and have managed to increase the performance of the dish.

Trevor Marshall has a webpage with information about using a biquad as a feed on a Primestar satellite dish, with very good results. Note that the photos on Trevor Marshall's webpage do not clearly show the construction of the biquad - particularly the way in which the quad is attached to the coax. Use the photos of my biquad below, and refer to the websites listed in the references section at the bottom of this page for more information on the correct construction of the biquad. Arduino Retro Computer with oard and SD card and BASIC interpreter for TV Copyright 2012 Usmar A Padow usmpadow@gmail.com (also known as amigojapan on freenode IRC and on youtube) This is a stand-alone computer that you can build easily May 13 2012: Finally released the TV version of the computer! May 7 2012: Added a BASIC preprocessor made in python that allows you to write code withought line numbers and to use labels. the preprocessor adds the lines and changes the labels to line numbers. Also made an AmericanFootball BASIC game, as an example of how to use the preprocessor. Also made some small changes to the firmware, so make sure to update that too. May 10 2012: Fixed a bug that allowed only 127 lines of BASIC in one program, now allows 255 lines, I will increase this number when I get a chance. AmericanFootball.BAS now works, I have finally tested it. Update all your files! PWillard kindly drew this digram of the Arduino Retro Computer TV (Click to enlarge)
