Technology was not as advanced as it is today, and things were changing at a slower pace. Retro and vintage years usually refer to the decades before our present day, up to the last century.

10 days and 10 iPhoneography photo apps So... | What I See Now 10 days and 10 iPhoneography photo apps So... | What I See Now So yesterday marked Day 10 of 100 Photo Apps—a project to post 100 images, from 100 different iPhone camera and photography apps, over 100 days. I’m not posting these apps in any particular order. They’re not ranked, and I’m not making any judgments about the ones I’m posting sooner rather than later. That said, I figured it would be fun to do some periodic rundowns of the apps I’ve covered—and offer some views of my faves among them.

"You will come to learn a great deal if you study the insignificant in depth." - Buckaroo Banzai I used to keep a fairly detailed User Page here with a lot of information, but most of it ended up being redundant when I set up my personal website, so I've decided to stop maintaining this page and focus on that one instead. Please feel free to visit with any questions or requests you may have. I love it when people use my photographs in their own projects, so the odds are good I'll be happy to help in any way I can. The image galleries below display all of the photos and illustrations I've uploaded to Commons, and are mostly here to help me keep track of what I've uploaded and what I haven't. What I like: Here’s an amazingly powerful iPhoneography app from Tiffen, the maker of traditional photographic filters. Along with the app’s hundreds of preset effects, Photo fx includes advanced image-editing tools for retouching, adding layers, and lots more. The app is particularly useful if you want to create a mask for one portion of an image, and then apply a filter just to that area. From the app maker: Photo fx is the definitive set of digital optical filters for the iPhone and iPod Touch. 100photoapps | What I See Now 100photoapps | What I See Now

Taken in various locations around Maniwa and Okayama Prefecture in Japan between 2008-2011 this brilliant series of photographs captures the wild frenzy of gold fireflies as they mate after thunderstorms during the June to July rainy season. Shot using a slow shutter speed, the neon green and yellow contrails seem almost digitally imposed on the scenic landscapes, but I assure you these are real. See them a bit larger here. This past October, Dear Photograph and About Time had a contest to give away a trip to anywhere in the world for people who sent in a Dear Photograph related to love or their family. Once our winner Jennifer found out she won she told me in an email it was the best day of her life because a day before she found out the adoption papers for their new child went through. Jennifer just sent me an email linked to a blog post to their trip they went on to Turks & Caicos in March. Looks like they made a few new memories and an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you can't afford to purchase software, you can still find good, free software to create and edit images. Some of this software is developed by individuals, and some is feature limited or an earlier version of a more advanced program. In some instances, there are no strings attached, but most often you will need to provide information to the company by registering, or endure ads or "nag" screens. 1. PhotoScape On first glance, I thought Photoscape was going to be a dud, but I dug in deeper and realized why so many readers of this site have recommended it as a favorite free photo editor.
