O músico Al Doyle vem de Leeds e o restante dos músicos vem de Londres. A banda já fez muitos shows, inclusive com aparições nos festivais Glastonbury, Sónar, Big Day Out e também muitas turnês em território americano e europeu nestes últimos três anos. Lançaram dois singles em 2006 - Over and Over e And I Was a Boy from School, ficando muito bem posicionado no ranking. O álbum The Warning foi elogiado pela crítca e pelo público, ganhando a nomeação de melhor álbum de 2006 pela Mercury Music Prize.

Basically any song released or covered in 2009 was fair game for this list; in one case, a song that squeaked onto the lower end of the list last year when it circulated as a single made an even bigger impact this year as part of an album, so that track was again open for consideration.
