How to Write a Winning Business Plan

Please share it! If you’ve ever written a business plan you know that it can be one of the most difficult documents you’ll ever create. The Traditional Business Plan The typical plan I produced usually included the following - - Executive summary – Mission statement – Success factors – Objectives – Company summary – Start- up Summary (funding & requirements) – Locations – Ownership – Services – Competitive comparison – Market Analysis (Trends, Growth, Needs) – Strategy and Implementation – Sales summary (Strategy, Forecast, Milestones) – Management summary (Executive profiles) – Financial Plan – Projected P/L Those are the sections of the typical business plan.

Creating Fame Online (So Customers Come To You) – with Laura Roeder

You’ll think that “creating fame” is not for serious businesspeople who have too much real work to do. Then, in a few days, you’ll start to realize that you bought Basecamp after you first got to know Jason Fried of 37signals, or that you first joined Hacker News because Paul Graham started it, or that you bought a Mixergy course because you got to know me and trusted me first. At that point, you’ll probably say to yourself, “Hmm. How can I do that too?” Then you’ll want to catch this interview with Laura Roeder. Laura Roeder is the founder of Creating Fame, which teaches entrepreneurs how to raise profiles and demonstrate expertise in their space.

One of the examples she mentioned was the re-branding of virtual switchboard and voice mail services provider, GotVMail, to Grasshopper. She noted: “Earlier this week, 5,000 influential marketers were sent chocolate covered grasshoppers to snack on and blog about. The grasshoppers were blogged, tweeted, and linked to all over the Web. It was a viral marketing campaign used to get the company attention and to tell people what Grasshopper.com was all about. I happened to be one of those so-called “influential marketers” who received a package of the chocolate-covered grasshoppers. The office mail clerk (ahem… my husband) announced it came from a company called Grasshopper. Here’s a close-up of the package of chocolate-covered grasshoppers.

The package label sends you to a URL where you can watch a video, at I won’t be eating them though. Entrepreneurship Ideas.
