Presentation Zen

In the spirit of personal kaizen , I have listed below a few books that I read (or reread) over the past year that you may want to read as part of your own continuous improvement journey. (Clicking on the book's icon takes you to Amazon.com.) (1) Your Brain at Work: Strategies for Overcoming Distraction, Regaining Focus, and Working Smarter All Day Long . Over the last 10-20 years scientists have made many remarkable discoveries concerning the brain and how it works. David Rock is not a neuroscientist but he is a good "neurotranslator" of the scientific evidence and does a good job of explaining in clear terms how the brain works and how our own understanding of the brain can help us in school, work, and beyond. http://www.presentationzen.com/
I suffer from something called Ménière’s disease—don’t worry, you cannot get it from reading my blog. The symptoms of Ménière’s include hearing loss, tinnitus (a constant ringing sound), and vertigo. How To Avoid Making A Bad Pitch - Venture Capital Dispatch - WSJ

By Ty McMahan All venture capitalists have probably experienced a bad pitch from an entrepreneur. But a couple years ago, the team at Canaan Partners heard a real sleeper. No, we mean, a real sleeper . The chief executive and vice president of sales for a start-up company visited Canaan’s Menlo Park, Calif., office.
Pitching is an art, but there is science to it, too. The art is how you work the room, the way in which you convey your enthusiasm and show your skill as a presenter. The science lies in the format of the presentation and your use of PowerPoint/flip chart/slides, which is formulaic. These tips are intended to provide insight into both the art and the science of presenting to investors. Be Brief: Your overview presentation should be no longer than 12 to 15 slides. Your prepared comments should take no more than 15 to 20 minutes to deliver.
