We support electronic publishing and open access to scholarship in order to enhance the sharing of knowledge worldwide. Our website includes resources for university administrators, librarians, faculty, students, and the general public. Se calcula que son ya 30.000 los científicos de 180 países que han firmado la Open Letter de PLoS que promueve el boicot a las editoriales que restrinjan el acceso a sus fondos. En la actualidad, la Word Summit of Information Society (2003) organizada por la ONU y la Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities , promovida entre otras por la Max Planck Society, el CNRS, el INSERN, la Wellcome Trust y la Academia de Ciencias de China, han adquirido fuertes compromisos en la dirección del open acess.
