Lesson No. 1: Spend some bucks on your tools At Napoleon Perdis' Makeup Academy in Hollywood, Rebecca Prior, NP's National Educator, begins the first lesson by introducing us to our tools. Here are the eight basic brushes you need: 1. Create Ombre Nails With Just One Polish. After progressing from hair to fashion, the ombré trend has made its way to your manicure. The look is simple to recreate at home, and you don’t even have to track down five sequential shades. The secret: you only need color. To get a gorgeous gradient, just pick a single pretty hue and then create your own lighter and darker shades using white or black polishes. Here’s how to get the effect: Step 1 Select your base polish. For this technique, a standard crème finish works best, so stay away from sheers, metallics, or jelly finishes. Step 2 Grab a paper plate, a piece of foil, or an empty egg carton to use as your palette.
Step 3 Dab four drops of colored polish onto your work surface. Step 4 Now that you have four new shades, paint the nails on each hand from light to dark. Hair has always been my "thing" but I do develop certain "shave it all off" tendencies at least once a year. So far I haven't..I do wonder how that would feel though. I also created this little mini quick reference "cheat sheet" for the steps. These are the materials you will need. Hole Puncher(s) I found smaller heart one at the dollar store, Nail polishes and masking tape (painters tape works also and I find it easier to work with thin tape). " post. So Pinterest told me that if I braided my hair and then used a straightener on those braids, that I would end up with these beautiful waves. So naturally I click on the picture to see a tutorial and I just end up on an image. No tutorial. Here is my hair before, completely straight. Split all of your hair into two parts and then braid each part and secure with a hair tie of your choosing.
Take one of the braids and twist it tightly away from your face. Place the straightener around the twisted braid and instead of just pulling the straightener down... Twist the straightener in the same direction the hair is twisted. This is what the braids looked like after being "straightened.
