LIS Research Coalition

In a blog post that we published on February 2 2012 we announced that the full report of the Research in Librarianship Impact Evaluation Study (RiLIES1) was available to download , and that we would be blogging highlights of the report over the coming weeks. This is the second of the RiLIES1 highlights postings. Here we present dissemination strategies for impact. The full RiLIES1 report makes four recommendations related to the dissemination strategies for impact. Here we consider these recommendations with reference to the literature reviewed for RiLIES1 and the outcomes of our empirical work. 1. http://lisresearch.org/
http://www.rin.ac.uk/ The Research Information Network has successfully completed its work as a publicly-funded research and policy unit. On 31 December 2011, the block grant provided to the RIN by its consortium of funders (the UK higher education funding councils, the seven research councils and the three national libraries) came to an end, and the RIN ceased to exist in the form that it had taken since 2005. On 1 January 2012, the RIN was launched as a new venture, a community interest company that undertakes research and analysis, as well as facilitation and coordination, with the aim of improving accessibility, availability and understanding of research information resources and services; and promoting the development of effective policies and strategies for the benefit of researchers and all those interested in their findings.

CILIP Council Meeting 19th May 2011 - Council Matters: the CILIP Council Blog

Annie presented an overview of how the Branch and Group is progressing, including a summary of the responses received from various Branches and groups to the reorganisation. She thanked Francis Muzzu who has been instrumental in collecting responses and liaising with the Branches and Groups. Council raised various issues, including whether the reorganisation had a time frame and what was likely to happen to branches and groups which had no desire to change. Annie responded that she had been telling the branches and Groups that the aim was to have the reorganisation resolved by the end of the year.
These changes are in response to feedback from members and non-members. In the spring of 2010, CILIP carried out a major survey called Defining Our Professional Future . More than 3,500 people gave their views about what they wanted from CILIP.
