Blood pressure ( BP ), sometimes referred to as arterial blood pressure , is the pressure exerted by circulating blood upon the walls of blood vessels , and is one of the principal vital signs . When used without further specification, "blood pressure" usually refers to the arterial pressure of the systemic circulation . During each heartbeat, blood pressure varies between a maximum ( systolic ) and a minimum ( diastolic ) pressure. [ 1 ] The blood pressure in the circulation is principally due to the pumping action of the heart. [ 2 ] Differences in mean blood pressure are responsible for blood flow from one location to another in the circulation.
The internal organs and their contents Human anatomy (gr. ἀνατομία, "dissection", from ἀνά, "up", and τέμνειν, "cut") is primarily the scientific study of the morphology of the human body . [ 1 ] Anatomy is subdivided into gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. [ 1 ] Gross anatomy (also called topographical anatomy, regional anatomy, or anthropotomy) is the study of anatomical structures that can be seen by the naked eye. [ 1 ] Microscopic anatomy is the study of minute anatomical structures assisted with microscopes , which includes histology (the study of the organization of tissues), [ 1 ] and cytology (the study of cells). Anatomy , human physiology (the study of function), and biochemistry (the study of the chemistry of living structures) are complementary basic medical sciences that are generally together (or in tandem) to students studying medical sciences .
Everyone knows that the heart is a vital organ. We cannot live without our heart. However, when you get right down to it, the heart is just a pump. A complex and important one, yes, but still just a pump.
Skeletal muscle is a form of striated muscle tissue which is under the control of the somatic nervous system ; that is to say, it is voluntarily controlled. It is one of three major muscle types, the others being cardiac and smooth muscle . As their name suggests, most skeletal muscles are attached to bones by bundles of collagen fibers known as tendons . Skeletal muscle is made up of individual components known as myocytes , or "muscle cells", sometimes colloquially called "muscle fibers". They are formed from the fusion of developmental myoblasts (a type of embryonic progenitor cell that gives rise to a muscle cell). These long, cylindrical , multinucleated cells are also called myofibers .
