Ceci rendit Piccadilly Circus plus attractif pour les annonceurs, qui y installèrent les premières enseignes lumineuses de Londres en 1895. Pendant un certain temps, la place fut entourée de ce type de panneaux publicitaires, créant ainsi une version Londonienne de Times Square, mais à présent, seul un bâtiment comporte encore de grandes enseignes, principalement électroniques.
