Tomato Soup Grilled Cheese | Recipe | With Style and Grace. Classic Corn Dogs and Cheese-on-a-Stick. For the second State Fair recipe, I whipped up some hot dogs and cheese-on-a-stick reminiscent not just of state fairs and carnivals…but also of shopping malls in the eighties: this is said to be the same batter recipe used by the famous Corn Dog 7 chain of stores, and if you don’t remember Corn Dog 7, you’re way too young and probably don’t have slack abdominal muscles or jowls yet.

I feel very sorry for you! Corn Dog 7 had fabulous hot dogs, of course…but their Cheese-on-a-Stick was what I loved the most as I traipsed through the mall with my best friend Jenn, buying things like neon pink fingerless gloves and Soloflex posters and Duran Duran tapes. I miss the Eighties so much it hurts. I’m going to go text Jenn right now. One thing about this blessed, glorious batter: if you have any left over, it makes perfect pancakes the next day. First things first: Use chopsticks for sticks! Stick ‘em into the hot dogs so that they’re about 2/3 of the way through. Now it’s time to make the batter! Petite Lasagnas.

Recipe slightly adapted from Hungry Girl (makes 12) 12 oz raw ground turkey ¼ tsp salt, divided ¼ tsp pepper 1 cup chopped onion ½ cup chopped mushrooms 14.5 oz can crushed tomatoes, or tomato sauce 2 cloves garlic, minced 3 tsp dried oregano, divided ½ tsp dried basil 1 ½ cups part skim ricotta cheese 24 small square wonton wrappers (the kind near the tofu in the refrigerated section of the produce dept) 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Preheat oven to 375ºF. Add the crushed tomatoes and 2 tsp of oregano. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta, a pinch of salt and pepper, the remaining teaspoon of oregano, and the basil. Coat a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.

Using half of the ricotta mixture, divide it among the 12 muffin cups. Gently press another wonton wrapper on top of the mozzarella layer. Repeat the process by distributing the remaining ricotta, then the remaining tomato sauce, and finally the rest of the shredded mozzarella. Nutrition Info for 1 petite lasagna: The Perfect Sunday Afternoon Sandwich. Weekends come and go so fast, don’t they? By the time Sunday arrives, it seems like all of the things I needed to accomplish on the weekend are still hanging around- laundry, grocery shopping, and preparing for the work week ahead. Since my fridge is pretty bare once Sunday rolls around, it’s easy to fall into the trap of stopping at the sandwich shop on the corner by our apartment before we go grocery shopping.

But if there is one thing we always have on hand in our freezer, it is bacon. I don’t use it very often, but Adam always seems to sneak a pound in our grocery cart “just to have on hand.” That boy loves bacon way too much! Before assembling the sandwiches, crisply cook slices of bacon. Before I started assembling the sandwiches, I cut avocado slices. Use a spoon to scoop out the cut pieces, and voila, you have perfectly sliced avocados to use on the sandwiches. Now to assemble: start by buttering one side of each piece of bread that will make up your sandwich.

Kitchen Fundamentals: How to Make a Whole Roasted Chicken. During my senior high school football season, my coach forced me to make the switch from linebacker to wingback. Initially, I was excited about being on the offensive side of the ball. Envisioning my name in print for scoring the winning touchdown in Saturday’s newspaper had quite the appeal. Besides, I had spent the past three years on the other side of the coin, and since defensive players rarely get the recognition they deserve, I was ready to get my moment in the sun.

Boy was I wrong. My coach did not intend for me to carry, much less catch the ball. Never to be discouraged, I embraced my new role as wingback. Thankfully, I caught on fairly fast. It was a late August afternoon and I had just about solidified my starting role as wingback before our exhibition game. Standing in the slot position, I was set to defend an oncoming defensive end from reaching the quarterback. Thanks coach.
