I try to settle down, i try to find a “home” and stay put, but i seldom last more than a year. I’m a socal girl who’s home is in her car, on the road, or bouncing between hotel rooms and friends’ places around the world… I suppose i’m a modern day digital nomad. A digi-nomad that needs a yurt! The one object i walked away from CA Boom V lusting after and itching to drop $8000 on is the Nomad Yurt… it breaks down and pops up in under a half hour (depending how many friends you have), and gives you an instant 120 square feet of calm, shady, cozy privacy, with a nice woody platform (don’t worry about what the ground is like around you like most yurts), a light sturdy bamboo structure, and weatherMAX covering.

Whether you use it as an instant studio, a guest room, a spa treatment room, or the best backyard under-tree-house ever… its a fun way to get some extra space, that you can pack up into the back of the car. Morana Kranjec sculptural clothes - EN | THEmag. MUT Design - producto. Drops is the name of the first collection of cement tiles designed by MUT for enticdesigns. This new concept of encaustic cement tile floors reinvent the late nineteenth century flooring technique and adapts it to suit current trends. Based on an emotive design, Drops is a complete revision that breaks with the formal cement tile tradition to distance itself from the rigid modular frame of the old designs, featuring floral and geometrical motifs. With this new collection, MUT proposes a randomized, open-modular system that every person may combine freely. The Drops collection consists of four different tiles to decorate each room according to personal tastes. The animal world inspired this first collection in which the design draws on Japanese fishponds long used to provide homes tranquility and harmony.

Clean Your Drives Daily", coupled with clean, retro graphic design. They are on sale now for PRE-ORDER (shipping starts on September 14th) at Each poster is $19.99, or you can buy a set of 4 for $69.99. All proceeds go to 826LA, a nonprofit dedicated to helping students 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. This interactive artwork by Andrew Small and Steven Almond was commissioned for the Royal Manchester Childrens’ Hospital in the UK. The sculpture uses digital lighting, medical monitoring equipment and control devices, and it becomes a heart rate monitor when people interact with it. At rest, the artwork ‘breathes’ in waves of blue light at the average human breath rate. When a person interacts with it by holding the grips, it takes and projects their heart rate in pulses of red light. Infrared sensors around the sculpture create different color and sequence patterns when their beams are broken, and the sculpture also becomes a clock for five minutes on the hour.

R540 Rocking Bench by Fetiche Design. Brazilian designers Carolina Armellini and Paulo Biacchi of Fetiche Design have created the R540 Rocking Bench. From the designers: We developed the design of the weft of threads as a “connecting dots” game, looking for a ergonomic radius seating.

The result is the 540 milimeters radius (~22 inches). We developed a contemporary product, but with a strong emotional interaction. This kind of threads were part of our childhood in the garden seats of the interior of Brazil. Visit the Fetiche Design website – here. Parking Canopy: Plastic Bottles Partially Filled with Colored Water. Home » Best Of » Parking Canopy: Plastic Bottles Partially Filled with Colored Water Recycling without limits…designer Garth Britzman of Lincoln, Nebraska used recycled bottles filled with colored water to create stunning topographical shade canopy for a vehicle. This project reused recycled soda bottles as a canopy under which a small park is created. An intriguing environment is created where one can explore the surface qualities of the bottles at eye level. Additionally, this project sought to stimulate creative alternatives for recycling and reusing materials.

I love how the natural shape of the plastic bottles makes the pooled water look like leaves. Bottles partially filled with water. NOTCOT.ORG. PaperWorks. Fresh from its fêted exhibition of the works of Gerhard Richter the Tate Modern has mounted another awe-inspiring retrospective, this time charting the life’s work to date of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Resident to this day in the psychiatric hospital to which she voluntarily admitted herself in 1977, Kusama, who will turn 83 in March, is Japan’s most famous artist and yet she remains relatively little-known in the West. This thrilling exhibition is sure to change that. Introducing the exhibition the curator and head of the Tate Modern’s International Art Collection, Frances Morris, took pains to emphasise the extent to which to Tate Modern was broadening its collections and scope to encompass what she termed the ‘global nature of contemporary art practise'.

Kusama herself is a key case in this widening of perspective: born in Japan and educated in the traditional Nihonga style of painting, she moved to New York at the age of 27 to pursue her avant-garde interests. This new series of ads was created by art/design collective NAM (previously here and here) for the Harbour City Chocolate Trail, a charity project for the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation. The series uses their signature method of suspending objects and people with strings and cables to create weightless environments that appear to be caught mid-explosion. Google has began rolling out prototypes of their augmented reality glasses to employees through a somewhat secret initiative called Project Glass. The prototype, pictured above, is the company’s first venture into wearable computing.

The wrap-around glasses feature a see-through lens that can stream everything from the weather to maps to text messages, in real-time. The glasses can record video, take pictures and the device sends and receives messages through voice commands. Employees from the company laboratory, Google X, are asking people for input about the prototype of Project Glass via Google Plus: We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. The prototype model has debunked early rumors that the glasses would resemble a pair of Oakley Thumps, but this is just one of the many variations of the glasses in the works. One person who had used the glasses said: ‘They let technology get out of your way. Project Glass. X-Plus by xiaoxi | TheCreator.ME. Master’s Program: Responsible Innovation - Postgraduate Studies. Becoming a responsible designer Life expectancy growing longer, crumbling social ties, disasters, poverty, pollution, overcrowding… many great challenges are looming over our modern-day societies.

Design must strive to provide collectively thought-up responsible answers to these emerging issues by making use of its global and systemic vision of the world. The role of the designer is not merely to manage, but to anticipate and even provoke these fundamental evolutions that mark our collective lives. Resolving development that is sustainable and inclusive in a context that is often the opposite demands more from a designer than their traditional set of skills. Along with creativity, ideation and communication skills, today designers need to be able to empathize as well as manage - a delicate balance of "soft and hard skills. Carnovsky is a creative duo comprised of two Milan based artists, Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla. Their latest project RGB looks at image creation through a new lens. Each of the RGB images are made up of three layers represented by primary colors. This starting image is discombobulating and difficult to read. Lines blend together into a rainbow swirl and it’s hard to grasp exactly what you are meant to be seeing. But by applying different primary colored filters to the room, using either filtered lightbulbs or transparent material, a different color in the mural will “pop” and rise to the surface, distinguishing a unique layer from the others. The images revealed are anatomical drawings of the human body or old scientific drawings of animal and plant life, each rising and receding into the foreground depending on the colors at play.

This installation totally reminds us of those graphics on the back of cereal boxes of yesteryear. Blow your mind?
