Bizzy Hands: A Bag Story. This handbag has been floating around on Pinterest and Facebook crochet groups in Holland.
It's a pattern called 'Mermoz Round Bag' from an Anny Blatt magazine, but there is no source to be found. However, there is a site, which has the pattern and diagram, you can find it here: The original bag doesn't have the little leaves behind the flower. On Facebook some crocheters made a pattern of their own. I as well was smitten by this bag, so i gave it a try myself. This is what i came up with. The leaves are crocheted the same way, behind the petals. Because the gaps in the flower always will be there, i sewed them together at the back.
Making the same kind of chain round for the start of the big circle. The original pattern is made of clusters and 2 chains, but again, too open to my liking. The handles in the original pattern are tubes, which are filled after finishing. This also can be used for other bags. The original bag is closed with a zipper. Here is the end result. I think this will be the fourth or fifth year I’ve been working on it, a little at a time. I wrote about this a little bit before (here if you want to read about it), and while I’m still plugging away at it, it seems that sometime between when I started this and now that the pattern has gone out of print. I got a request a few days back if I could share the pattern since it’s not readily available. Mindful of copyright laws, I did my best to search on Amazon, eBay, and elsewhere on the internet to see if I could find a legal copy to direct the searcher to, but I found nothing. Finally, I decided to call Herrschener’s directly to see if they had back copies in stock or anything like that.

The Linen Stitch has been one of my favourite stitches since I first started designing. It works up quickly, and you can alter the look of it so much by changing how often you change colours and how many colours you choose to use. For my Linen Stitch Manghan, I have used Scheepjeswol Stonewashed XL in Canada Jade, Blue Apatite, Amazonite, Boulder Opal, Moonstone, and Lemon Quartz (Colour Packs available below) . The final lapghan is 80 cm x 110 cm (31″ x 43″), which is perfect for me. If you would like to make it bigger, you can always add more squares or a thicker border. Crochet Tutorials.
