Never did I think I’d miss my cozy dorm room, but it feels nice to be back into its space-confining arms. After more than a week in Kansas, we arrived home last night and are implementing many things for our 2010 selves. Until then, I’ll continue to eat my weight in chocolate. An item that did not come home with us this year was R’s white elephant gift. Here it is, in all it’s glory. So R tried to give it away as part of his secret santa gift.

R drew our brother-in-law’s name for our annual secret santa amongst the siblings. At least I thought we were. R was clever with his money, though. As an extra touch of thoughtfulness, R added his lovely pear plate (free of charge) to his secret santa gift. Joe was thrilled. A few days later, we found the pear plate hiding in a cupboard. “Oh, Hail No”, my mom said. So she suggested I wrap up the plate and give it to R during his family’s christmas morning. And being the dutiful daughter, I did. R was not as thrilled as Joe. Like this: 12 Things Happy People Do Differently. Post written by: Marc Chernoff Email by Jacob Sokol of Sensophy “I’d always believed that a life of quality, enjoyment, and wisdom were my human birthright and would be automatically bestowed upon me as time passed.

I never suspected that I would have to learn how to live - that there were specific disciplines and ways of seeing the world I had to master before I could awaken to a simple, happy, uncomplicated life.” -Dan Millman Studies conducted by positivity psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky point to 12 things happy people do differently to increase their levels of happiness. The books The Four Hour Workweek and Your Money or Your Life have a few things in common: They both appeal to a person that doesn’t want to wait until they’re 65 to live a life where work doesn’t suck up 50+ hours a week of their lives. (That’s Me! And probably You!) They both advocate being as efficient about earning and spending money as possible – YMOYL through deferring gratification, saving and investing and the 4HWW through “having it all” now by building a “muse” business (that will run itself) or getting a job where you can lie to your employers and pretend that you’re working full-time.

Before reading YMOYL years ago, I read every book I could get my hands on along the lines of Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow . Here are a few reasons why I preferred YMOYL over the 4HWW: YMOYL gives a “recipe” that ANYBODY can easily follow to reach financial independence. Untitled. p70-97.pdf (application/pdf Object) Statistics. People are always asking me about divorce statistics, so I decided to set out what I know here. This page talks about the divorce rate and the times when people divorce. What is the Divorce Rate? We read constantly in the popular media about the “burgeoning divorce rate.”

That was true in the 60’s and 70’s, but it’s no longer true today. In addition, everyone has heard the adage that one half of all marriages end in divorce. That’s probably more or less true, but I'm not able to verify it. The divorce rate as a percentage of married women over 15 doubled from 1960 until about 1979, when it reached a plateau and began to decline. For those who insist on knowing the chances that a marriage will fail, there is one principle that is clearly true. When Do People Divorce? Marilyn Monroe notwithstanding, there’s no evidence of any “Seven Year Itch” at which husbands or wives tend to seek divorce. First marriages ending in divorce last an average of 11 years for both men and women.

As I know I’ve mentioned before, my friend Jenny is always coming up with these fantastic things that make her (and others) furiously happy. You probably know about our Beyonce adventure. And the Twilight wolf costume dance off. And the time she and her readers saved Christmas. But now, as we’re looking ahead, making resolutions and starting fresh, I’d like to talk about something more personal, related to furious happiness…happiness in your own skin. It started as a random idea. In Jenny’s words... I want, just once, to wear a bright red, strapless ball gown with no apologies. So she bought the dress. All for different reasons. All have stories attached to them. And there are many, many stories, more all the time…You can read about some of them here.

Or here. Or here. Or here. Or, you can even read about mine here. As I said on Hitting Refresh, Jenny brought this dress over to my house on my 40th birthday and insisted that we do a shoot. It’s inspiring. Exercises for Fiction Writers - Page 2. Top 10 Strategies for Getting Back Your Lost or Stolen Stuff.
