Manifesta, an athletic apparel company designed for all shapes, has replaced sizes on its website with flowers in order to encourage the idea that women are more than a number. It all started in 2011, when Rachel Blumenfeld, Manifesta CEO and founder, noticed that athletic wear was not designed for curvy women. Most of the clothes were created for a very specific slim woman, size 4 or 6. Companies who made athletic clothes were lagging on clothes for diverse proportions. Blumenfeld started taking body measurements of women of all different sizes and observing what people wanted to change about their athletic clothing. To stick to their mantra of wanting every woman to feel sexy and look amazing, Manifesta has replaced number sizes with flowers. When purchasing an item, you choose between Poppy (2-4), Lily (6-8), Rose (10-12), Violet (14-16), Iris (18-20), and Daisy (22-24).

Avoid Lengthy Hashtags [DhariLo Social Media Tip Tuesday: Tip 20] – DhariLo Social Media.

WTF Is A Hashtag Going To Do: The Age Of Fake Activism [Editorial] | THATSENUFF.COM. Another black unarmed teen is slain and the outrage of a community speaks. Not in the form of full on protests, riots and petitions, but in the form of a hashtag. Growing up in the digital age, my personal experience with the hashtag hasn’t been more than a few likes, a retweet, or a follow. So it’s a little ingenious: a new version of “the silent protest.” With the birth of the digital world we have gained something that those before us didn’t have, global information (from even the most remote parts of the world) and a voice. Up until recently, neither has served us any real good. It has a way to truly connect us, if we use it correctly. Since the creation and popularity of social media, it is as if we gain the ability to speak and be heard but lost the will to act. Honestly, not enough of us really care as much as we say we do.

We use the hashtag to show where we stand in the digital world, but we really don’t fully support that shit in everyday life. The Art and Science of Creating a Successful Blog Post. The creative geek has never had it so good. They have the web tools, apps and the social networks that keep poking them with global gems of content inspiration and ideas. It is a revealed universe of possibilities. What we are seeing in this century is the synergy between the art of creation and science of technology.

Gutenberg would be turning in his grave if he saw what is happening in the new world of publishing. So we now have the online tools to publish your inspirations. It is the synthesis of art and science. Creating a successful blog post is creativity enabled by technology both in production, delivery and marketing. The Art This starts with an idea for your article. Whenever the idea strikes, grab a pen, your phone or that napkin at the coffee shop. The writing for me can start three ways. The headline idea (maybe optimal)Creating the introduction (that’s how this one started)Mapping out the structure and framework for the post (that often happens) That is certainly the intent. 1. 2.

“Tips My Grandmother Should Have Given Me” What type of advice do you give the younger people in your life? If you want to give the type of tip they’ll truly appreciate, read on and learn. Cacho Puebla says his three grandmothers offered sermons instead of tips; they were always warning him to be careful about everything from money to girls. When the designer found himself giving the same old advice to his son, he wondered: “As my son gets older and I get more grey hair, what kind of advice will I give to my grandkids.” So began an adventure of the imagination, with Puebla creating a series of crisply phrased - and beautifully designed - social-media tips for “super-savvy” elders to impart to youngsters.

The headline: Tips My Grandmother Never Told Me (but I love her anyway). “Don’t buy an app that has an ugly logo.” “Don’t trust all of what you read and see in Wikipedia.” “Never play World of Warcraft: It’s really, really, really addictive.” “Remember kid: True friends never post “Happy Birthday” on your wall.” Got any tips to add? 5 Cool Content Marketing Infographics You Shouldn't Miss. Flipping the corporate marketing model from all about your brand and its products and services to all about your customer is a lot like turning the Titanic. It is slow and hard to do. The challenge is that most companies have been brought up on a diet of pushing ads in front of people to sell their “stuff”.

It was about selling first and then engaging. In a digital world it is now about engagement first and selling second. Content’s role in this is about creating such great value whether that is entertainment or education that it engages your customers and prospects. This can be achieved by tempting them to subscribe with an email to obtain that information (content), join your Twitter feed to see the content stream past or “like” your Facebook page to be reminded when new content hits the Facebook timeline. Content Impacts Search and Social There are two other roles that content has that are maybe not apparent to the casual web user. #1. Key Insights #2. . #3. . #4. . #5. 15 Common Mistakes in Social Media Marketing. As digital media continues to integrate into our lives, business executives, freelancers and professionals from all walks have started to use social media to engage in content marketing. And while some of us have more experience than others in the social media game (I had very little when I began exploreB2B), as we accept the need for our participation and the reality that the social landscape is ever-evolving, part of us must come to terms with the fact that often the best way to learn – is simply by doing. Throughout this learning process, there will be misunderstandings for those just entering the world of social business. Here are some I have encountered along the way, which (most of us) seek to avoid. As you manage your social business and content marketing presence online, bear these in mind: 1.

Branding Lessons from Social Media. I celebrated a personal milestone this week when I reached the 3,000 follower mark on Twitter. Later that day, a friend and I were having lunch when he asked me to tell him about my success. Without hesitation, I gave him this simple explanation. It's all about branding. My experience with social media has provided me with some powerful insights. One of those insights is that developing an engaging presence on social media is a lot like building a brand. I started by defining my brand, a promise and an audience. The next step was to deliver on it. Let me share with you ten branding lessons I've gained from my experience with social media over the last four years:1. For more insights on brand building and social media, please see:• Brand Building Through Social Media• How Social Media Is Making an Impact on Marketing• Why Social Media Should Be Part of Your Marketing Communications• 5 Insights on Marketing Your Brand on Social Media• Social Media Is About Building Relationships.

How to Avoid PR Disaster With a Social Media Policy. Does the saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity" apply to social media blunders gone viral? Your brand ending up as a gag skit on "SNL" because of a social media mishap is probably not part of the PR strategy. As opposed to the social media sentiment when you land an interview with Oprah that trends on Twitter, gets replayed on YouTube, and shared on Facebook with a behind the scenes shot on #Instagram.

If you think social media and public relations are two different departments with separate agendas, think again. Zen of a Social Media Policy The good, the bad, and the ugly stemming from social media sentiments that bubble up to a brand are a direct reflection on the company's image, credibility, influence, and visibility – and if you're a public company or a company trying to raise money, how about those investors?

In more cases than not, employees behaving badly by accident or intentionally have the formula for PR disaster. Your Employees are Social! Social media may equal more productive employees. If you were referred to this post at work from Facebook or Twitter, congratulations, you may be a highly efficient worker. That’s according to a spate of recent research that social media may actually be beneficial for workplace productivity. First, a study released last month by the U.K. -based Warwick Business School showed that digital connectivity actually increases workers “sense of presence” and gives them greater control over the timing and location of their work. The study, which focused on a European telecom, showed the social media-enabled team outperformed their colleagues restricted to communicating with traditional enterprise software.

"Ubiquitous digital connectivity should be seen not as an unwelcome interruption but as part of the changing nature of knowledge work itself that needs to become part of normal, everyday practices of contemporary organizations," study author Joe Nandhakumar told Bloomberg Businessweek. How To Snag A Sale From A Simple 'Contact Us' Page.

Getting website sales isn’t all about product pages and shopping carts. Many business owners forget there is a whole conversion funnel every visitor goes through before choosing whether or not to make a purchase on your site. One of the most important aspects of that funnel is the “Contact Us” information and page on your site! Contact Us can have a powerful impact on a site’s ability to generate sales and leads. Not only does it provide a way for potential customers to connect with you, it should also offer multiple contact options and ultimately deliver assurance that assistance is just a phone call or click away if a need arises. While many websites are smartly displaying their phone numbers on every page of their site, this strategic bit of placement is no replacement for a well-crafted Contact Us page.

Unfortunately, too many sites make their contact page (and phone number) difficult, if not impossible, to find. Site-Wide Contact Links Multiple Contact Options Various Contact Points. Blogging at Southwest Airlines: Rented vs. Owned Social Media Properties [VIDEO] During a SXSW panel session on social customer service, Southwest Airlines’ Brooks Thomas made a somewhat passing comment about his company’s digital approach that struck a chord with me. Brooks characterized the space Southwest has staked out on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as ‘rented’ and said the company focuses the bulk of its efforts on creating content for its corporate blog—a property it fully owns. Brooks and his team then determine where and how to syndicate that content out through third-party networks. What Southwest smartly recognizes is that any of the social media tools a nd platforms could go away tomorrow (Don’t think so?

See: Friendster, MySpace, Delicious, Google Reader, etc.) or they could decide to dramatically change the rules of engagement for users or brands. As the digerati endlessly talk up the app or platform of the week, blogs have certainly lost some of their early sizzle. LinkedIn Marketing Infographic: Creating A Kick-Ass LinkedIn Profile. How To Create The Perfect Vine. Six social-media skills every leader needs - McKinsey Quarterly - Strategy - Innovation. Few domains in business and society have been untouched by the emerging social-media revolution—one that is not even a decade old. Many organizations have been responding to that new reality, realizing the power and the potential of this technology for corporate life: wikis enable more efficient virtual collaboration in cross-functional projects; internal blogs, discussion boards, and YouTube channels encourage global conversations and knowledge sharing; sophisticated viral media campaigns engage customers and create brand loyalty; next-generation products are codeveloped in open-innovation processes; and corporate leaders work on shaping their enterprise 2.0 strategy.

This radical change has created a dilemma for senior executives: while the potential of social media seems immense, the inherent risks create uncertainty and unease. By nature unbridled, these new communications media can let internal and privileged information suddenly go public virally. Exhibit Enlarge 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
