Boho Maxi Dress: a tutorial

By now you may have realized that I'm all about the simple projects. I'm far from being a master seamstress, I just work with what I know and try to learn as I go. I've never actually owned a maxi dress before, but now I might be hooked. They're so comfy and they have the added benefit of hiding my neglected, less-than-hairless legs. Want to make one too?? Materials: 1 4/5 yd Extra Stretchy Jersey Knit (60"wide) (You want a lightweight knit. 1/3 yd Trim Fabric Dye I know that there are many of you out there who have a fear of sewing with knit.

A couple of things to keep in mind when sewing with knit... Let the material go at it's own pace when feeding through the machineUse a zig zag stitch or a stretch stitch. Tutorial: Fold your panel of fabric in half along the 60" side. Because it was so huge, it was difficult to get a decent pic of this step...so I drew up this nice little chart instead.

The Circle Skirt. I used to think that a gathered skirt was the easiest skirt to sew.

the Circle Skirt

But I may have changed my tune. A circle skirt is possibly even easier! ….especially if you leave the elastic exposed. If you’ve ever made a poodle skirt before, it’s the same concept. Your fabric is cut in a circle, like a donut. Once you’ve created your pattern, you can whip up 4 skirts in an hour! Okay, let’s get started. What you need (for a little girl’s skirt): * about 1 yard of fabric* appx 3/4 yard of 2-inch wide elastic FABRICS to use:* Rayon* Polyester Charmuese* Simple Cotton* Thin Corduroy* Lightweight WoolMany fabrics will work for this project.

ELASTIC:Wide elastic from fabric stores typically comes 2 inches or 3 inches wide; white or black in color. If you’d like to add a colorful twist to your skirt, check out our easy Tutorial for Dyeing Elastic HERE. Measure around your waist. PATTERN:This requires a bit of geometry but don’t worry, we’ll break it down for you. Shop Patterns. Une touche de peps pour mon sweat gris.

1,50 m de popeline en 1,40 m de large ? 1 Zip de 60 cm, ? Dress vintage style year 1950. 3 Step, $3 Infinity Scarf. First things first: Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts (and your gratuitous, giggle-inducing compliments) on my blogging identity crisis post.

3 Step, $3 Infinity Scarf

I really felt a little confused about why I’m blogging in the first place and what (if anything) I should be focusing on, and you guys gave me a great reminder of what I’m doing here: sharing my passions, my thoughts, my hobbies, and my everyday, real, unglamourized (not a real word) life so we can connect and laugh and be inspired and improve ourselves together.

The consensus of thought in the comments seems to be that while we all enjoy a good crochet/craft post, most of you seem to just enjoy having a good ol’ internet buddy that you can chuckle and commiserate and create with. And I love being that buddy. Second things second: Newlyweds on a Budget is giving away 3 patterns of your choice from my shop right now . . . head on over and enter to win! Third things third: Have you noticed the animal print trend happening lately? Boom.
