There are lots of ways to cut 60 degree, or equilateral triangles. If you don't have a triangle die-cut blade, don't despair!

For this project, if you are using a ruler, cut a 4 1/4" wide strip and then use a ruler to cut the 60 degree angles, rotating the ruler to get multiple equilateral triangles from the strip. Equilateral triangles can also be cut using a regular quilting ruler as long as it has a 60 degree line. Lay out the triangles in the design you want. After your first row is assembled it will look like this. Freshly Pieced Modern Quilts: Ribbon Star Block Tutorial.
