Ham Croquettes (Croquetas de Jamón) Recipe. "Croquetas" - croquettes are small, lightly breaded and fried sort of fritter. They are a sure hit as an appetizer or an afternoon snack with a glass of beer or wine. They are creamy and smooth and very tasty. The best part is you can make the dough ahead of time and freeze it. Then, take the "croquetas" out of the freezer, coat and pop them into the frying pan.

Prep Time: 3 hours, 15 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes Total Time: 3 hours, 40 minutes Ingredients: 1/2 cup (100ml) chicken broth8 tbsp olive oil3/4 cup (107 gr) flour1 1/2 cups (350 ml) milk1/2 tsp nutmegdash of ground pepper1/2 cup very finely hand-minced ham2 eggs, lightly beaten with 2 teaspoons waterbread crumbs for coatingolive oil for frying Preparation: This croquetas de jamon recipe makes about 6 servings as an appetizer. Tip: Make sure that the ham if very finely minced, so it can be mixed thoroughly with the dough. Heat the 8 Tbsp olive oil in a small saucepan on medium heat. Pour the bread crumbs into a small, wide bowl.

Warning: Do not contaminate your mushroom. Homemade Healthy Vinegar. I grew up rarely having any vinegar, as my mom didn't really enjoy the taste. Lately, however, I've gotten accustomed to using it more and more around the house. Vinegar is a very versatile food with health benefits and preservative abilities, and also works as a cleanser, deodorizer, and antibacterial agent among many other uses. Vinegar is not that expensive round these parts, but a quick look at the label will show that it is synthetic and chock full of chemicals; making it a pretty unhealthy and unnatural condiment. Fortunately, with just a few simple ingredients, it is possible to make your own healthy vinegar. Homemade Healthy Vinegar Homemade vinegar can be made in a few ways. Yeasts eat sugars in liquids, forming an alcoholic beverage. Like a kombucha mushroom, a mother of vinegar is a "blob" made from a symbiotic culture of specific strains of bacteria and yeast, which transforms carbohydrates into a healthful liquid.

Broccoli parmesan fritters. Last week, it was pointed out to me that among the 750 recipes in the archives, there is but a single recipe that utilizes broccoli. Just one! (It’s a great one, though.) For comparison, there are 11 recipes that use cauliflower and 26 with mushrooms. What terrible oversight could have led to this? I buy broccoli (and its friends) approximately once a week, year-round but this wasn’t always the case. Please understand: this is not one of those stories about how preciously advanced my toddler’s tastes are, how early he took an interest in foie gras and how he turns his nose up at white flour pastas, preferring farro. I have a theory that you can tuck almost any finely chopped or shredded vegetable — be it potatoes, zucchini, or an Indian-spiced mix — into a savory pancake, fry it in small mounds until crisp on both sides, serve it with a dollop of a sour cream or yogurt sauce and they will be inhaled.

So, you know where this is going. And with that, I had them for lunch instead.

Going Green With Proper St. Patrick’s Day Drinks « Mancave Daily – New York. We asked our resident Irishman and professional drinker Luke McKinney for some advice on St. Patrick’s Day. And once we deciphered his answer in our Irish-English-to-American-English dictionary (…what’s a publican?) , we found a great list of drinks that are supposed to be green. On St Patrick’s day it’s traditional to drink green beer, and like most traditions it’s based on idiots doing dumb things over and over without ever asking “Wait a minute, isn’t this stupid?”

Though, to be fair, fifteen pints is almost perfectly designed to prevent people from asking intelligent questions. Your beer stopped photosynthesizing a very long time ago. Going green might be a stupid idea for beer, but it’s a great excuse for trying new drinks.
