Borg-Warner T-90. The Borg-Warner T-90 is a three-speed manual gearbox from Borg-Warner.

It was used in most Willys and Kaiser-Jeep models from 1945 to 1971, as well as a number of International Harvester models. T-90A[edit] The T-90A was used in Jeep models equipped with a four-cylinder engine. Because of its long production span, it is nearly legendary. It is a good transmission when well maintained and has often been adapted to V8, V6 and I4 power. The T90 was the improved progeny of the T84, of military MB & GPW fame. The T90 was the standard three-speed as found in CJ Universals, Utility Trucks & Wagons, J Series and Forward Control Trucks. Features The T90 is a top loaded, top shifting or side shifting transmission. The T90 is fully synchronized in the second and third gears. Identification The T90 transmission is 9" long and features a cast iron top cover that is retained by six bolts and a main case of cast iron. All 4wd T90 transmissions have a 1-3/8" x 6 spline output shaft for mounting the transfer case input gear.

I did find a local transmission guru to answer some of my hardest questions. As other people use these instructions and provide me with feedback I will post their comments. I can be reached for comments at rick48cj2a@satx.rr.com Dr. Merl - My T90 rebuild is finally done, and I must say that it went along much easier than I had expected.

As for my original problem... T-90 shifts easily into R & 1st, never grinds at all even while rolling.
