The Saari Residence offers artists and researchers the opportunity for peace and tranquillity, and the possibility to focus on their creative work undisturbed. The Saari Residence’s historical surroundings and peaceful location near a nature reserve and bird wetlands help to fade away all distractions.

The Saari Well is also an opportunity for artists and researchers working at the residence to meet, share, and leave their mark on each other’s thoughts, work and the Saari Residence. Présentation La borne est un mobilier urbain itinérant en région Centre qui a pour ambition de mettre en contact l’art contemporain et le grand public, de multiplier les rencontres et d’offrir un large questionnement. Pour les artistes invités, c’est un lieu d’expression qu’ils peuvent investir. La borne est en fonction de septembre à juin depuis 2009. Durant chaque saison, cinq villes ou villages de la région Centre sont invités à accueillir cette action. Installée pour une durée de deux mois dans l’espace public, La borne présente successivement deux artistes. Le public accède aux œuvres par une démarche naturelle et commune à chacun d’entre nous : le lèche-vitrine.

Each artist will have their own bedroom and will share a kitchen, general living area and bathroom. Residents have the space to write and make small works in their living space and also have use of the nearby Milking Parlour Studio which is located seven minutes walk away from the residence.
Access to the public transportation system is a ten to fifteen minute walk away. Weekly car trips to the supermarket are available on request. The Milking Parlour Studio is beautifully situated under a grove of mahogany trees in the middle of a hundred acre farm, and as such has the capacity to accommodate artists working outdoors on temporary site specific works. The FRESH MILK self directed residency aims to support visual artists and creatives by offering a quiet and peaceful working space for a minimum of 4 weeks. During his residency, Mick continued his practice of looking to ecological, practical issues that address human necessities – such as renewable energy – asking, “What happens when we no longer have electricity?
What other kinds of energy are there – physical, mental, spiritual, social? How do we tap into and fuel such energies without over-exploiting?” The project included a human-powered adobe/papercrete mixer which included a secondhand bicycle, found metal, cooler axle and bearings, volcanic rocks of Tres Piedras, a glass window, and, of course, paper pulp from donated library books. We have exchanged ideas about the similarities and differences in our individual programs and are working together to simplify the access of interested artists to information about what we offer, as well as how to find better ways of organizing together to optimize the visiting artist’s stay here.
Leipzig is located in Saxony, Germany. It is a very old city, offering beautiful architecture and old streets, and is based in a strong traditional culture of art, book printing and music. In addition, it has played major roles in German history. In the context of contemporary art, it has recently once-again become world-renowned. With a population of about 500,000 residents, Leipzig is a place that is ever changing and growing and has become an important meeting point from artists from all over the world. Artists Unlimited » Residency. One of the founding ideas of Artists Unlimited is to have a guest studio integrated in our house. A space in which an international artist / designer can live and work for 3 months. We‘ve had over 80 guests from around the world stay in our place. We offer a studio space (40m2) which is located next door to a private appartment (32m2). Inside, there is a sleeping area, a kitchen, washing machine, telephone and Wi-Fi. The residency space is located on the first floor of our building, which used to be a paper factory 30 years ago. The studio and the apartment are private, though our guest artists share the floor with two neighbours who also have their private appartments there. Artists Unlimited pays for the monthly rent and grants of 570 Euro a month. Concluding the residency, we encourage all of our guest artists / designers to use the opportunity to present their work in our own gallery.

Photo: Simone Roda Désireux de contribuer à l'établissement de liens et d'échange de points de vue artistiques entre les commissaires indépendants québécois et étrangers et souhaitant promouvoir le travail et le développement de la carrière de commissaires québécois à l'extérieur du Québec, le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) a conclu en 2011 une entente avec le International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) de Brooklyn (New York), aux États-Unis.
Cette entente prévoit la mise sur pied d'un programme de résidences permettant à un commissaire québécois de faire une résidence de recherche de trois mois à Brooklyn. Le ISCP est l'un des plus importants centres de résidences en arts contemporains aux États-Unis. Des visites des installations de ISCP sont régulièrement organisées pour des intervenants américains ou étrangers, mettant ainsi les artistes et les commissaires en résidence en contact avec un grand nombre de professionnels.
