Chalkboard Nails: Urban Decay Showboat Nail Kit - Gradient Crazy. Good morning!

Chalkboard Nails: Urban Decay Showboat Nail Kit - Gradient Crazy

Today I am continuing my theme of doing nail art or special techniques with new collections instead of just swatching them. This post features the Urban Decay Showboat Nail Kit, which is their collection for summer! The kit features six mini bottles in a good variety of colors and finishes. They come in a really neat tray (can be seen on Scrangie) that Urban Decay suggests that you save and use as a stand for the polish when you are painting your nails. Gradients are crazy popular right now, so to stay on trend I bust out my makeup sponges. Of course, I had to do my two favorite accent nails for this manicure as well, so I did accents on my middle and pointer fingers and then reversed them on the opposite hand. The greenish gradient here is comprised of the three cool shades in the Showboat Nail Kit.

The neon gradient nails are my favorite! Sprout Bookmarks. Natural Pools or Swimming Ponds. Natural Pools or Natural Swimming Ponds (NSPs) Let nature clean the water...

Natural Pools or Swimming Ponds

Chemical-free water garden and swimming pool. The plant portion, or regeneration zone, is separated from the swimming area by the wall seen a few inches below the water’s surface. www.naturalswimmingpools.com The pools have skimmers and pumps that circulate the water through the regeneration zone and back into the swimming area. The aquatic plants filter out contaminants and use nutrients from the water as food which helps prevent algae. Then rocks, such as granite river rock or haydite, to which friendly bacteria attach, act as biological filters. There are many options as to design.

A gradual slope contains the plants, gravel and loamy sand, a wall keeps them separate from the swimming area. Vacuum but twice a year and tend to the plants as needed. The regeneration zone can be along the perimeter of a natural pool or a pond unto itself but connected to the swimming area. www.gartenart.co.uk. Cheerios Birdfeeders. Silk-Dyed Eggs {aka TIE-Dyed!} I posted this tutorial a few years ago and it has become somewhat of a tradition to bring it back every year!

Silk-Dyed Eggs {aka TIE-Dyed!}

One of our family Easter traditions is dying eggs with pieces of silk. I saw a cute lady show Martha how to do it a few years ago and I ran upstairs right then to steal a tie! It’s way cooler than those cups of neon liquid that end up all over your clothes, your furniture and your hands plus it gives you an excuse to rid a man’s closet of ugly ties.

Here’s the run-down: You need 100% silk for this to work. I try to find an assortment of colors and patterns. Usually it will tell you if it’s 100% silk right on the main label of the tie, but a lot of them don’t, and if that’s the case, check that little tiny end, it’s usually hiding there. The first step is to deconstruct the tie. Next you cut a piece large enough to cover an egg. Now, notice how I tied the eggs in the above photo- with the tie on the top of the long side of the egg. Braided Headband DIY from A Beautiful Mess. Get Yo' Nails Did. Okay, so we’re only three weeks in to this whole thing and I’m already showing you a tame look after I totally promised some of you that I’d do a newsprint nail tutorial this week.

Get Yo' Nails Did

Newsprint we can do next week, but for right now I wanted/needed a manicure by a professional. As I told you in the first “Get Yo’ Nails Did”, it’s important to include real manicures in your nail routine if you’re not comfortable cutting your cuticles and getting into the real work at home. I am not. I’m willing to shell out $20 bucks to have the dirty work done right, but I’m not going to splurge on nail art at the salon most of the time. As you can see from the photo above, I prefer to do a basic manicure but make it a little different by switching up the colors on my index and middle fingers. That’s another thing: Remember that, while you should always be extremely polite to your manicurist, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want and to tell him/her if it’s not done correctly.
