Blue Oak Energy’s latest rooftop solar project for REI is located at the REI Distribution Center in Goodyear. This 2.2 MW solar system will account for 100% of the center’s annual energy consumption and bring the outdoor retailer closer to its solar energy goals. Blue Oak Energy provided the full scope of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for this project.

Why is Commercial Solar a Good Investment?
Solar Investment Returns and the 5 Key Factors
Do Solar Panels Meet Miami-Dade Hurricane Wind Requirements? Hurricanes and wind are frequent concerns among those seeking to install solar panels in Southwest Florida, and many people have heard about Miami-Dade hurricane wind code requirements.

Do Solar Panels Meet Miami-Dade Hurricane Wind Requirements?

It stands to reason that people want solar panels installed that meet the most stringent hurricane wind building codes in the country. The concerns usually involve roof leaks and integrity of the roof itself. We saw Hurricane Charley pass through the area a little over 10 years ago with 150 mph winds, making it a strong Category 4 hurricane and at the time the second most powerful to hit the U.S. since Hurricane Andrew in 1992. From that experience, we know what the likely outcome will be when strong hurricane winds hit homes with solar panels.

The Design Basics for Solar Parking Lots You Need to Know - Borrego Solar

For years, solar photovoltaics (PV) have proven to be a smart choice for parking facilities for a variety of reasons. With the growing trend of installing plug-in electric vehicle charging stations in some parking lots and garages, energy usage and operating expenses have also increased, making solar PV parking lots a solution for facility owners looking to counteract the increase in energy demand. Shade structures can be a great addition to any parking lot, as they provide numerous benefits as well as the potential to carry solar panels.

Adding shade structures to a parking lot can reduce lighting costs through the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting under the structures in place of the often low-efficiency light poles in many lots. In early 2014, Solaire Generation completed a 325 kW solar carport system at a new Whole Foods Market in Brooklyn, N.Y. Working as a subcontractor for SunEdison, Solaire installed a series of double-cantilevered supports of its own design with photovoltaic panels that will supply approximately 380 MWh of electricity per year, equal to about 25% of the store’s needs.

Whole Foods was committed to taking an environmentally conscious approach to its new location, and the parking lot was the only viable option for a substantial solar installation. The rooftop of the store had been staked out for an organic garden, and the urban site had no room to spare for a conventional ground-mount array. An interesting aspect of the site is that it overlooks the Gowanus Canal. RBI Solar Carport Structures. Commercial.energizeny. One Simple Rule For C&I Solar: Understand The Client’s Business. A lot of planning goes into a crane day.

On a given day, EnterSolar would have to clear quite a bit of space on the grounds. That was all coordinated with the customer well in advance. Sometimes the crane would have to be on the side of the building where active bays were located or where trucks would be coming and going. Burns says this went smoothly because he worked closely with the Clare Rose facility’s operations manager, Steve Henz. Because of the openness of the roof, if the crane could be properly coordinated with the customer’s business requirements, it could, essentially, place a load anywhere that is required. The work on the front end of C&I projects revolves around managing the logistics of deliveries of material, personnel and equipment. “Those are the three things we really need to make sure are there on time and ready to go when the sun comes up,” Burns says. For the Clare Rose project, EnterSolar used DCE racking.
