Why France will never be Silicon Valley. It is always exciting to examine what is going on in your home country, especially in your own industry.

Why France will never be Silicon Valley

As I am back in France for a few weeks, I wanted to see what was happening in the French tech scene. I heard a lot about the French incubator “Le Camping”, an accelerator program from Silicon Sentier that allows 12 teams to develop a project over 6 months, essentially letting entrepreneurs make their dreams into a reality. Cyril Dorsaz, 25 years old, is one of the lucky entrepreneurs who was chosen for his project Beansight.

Dorsaz says, “Le Camping gives us not only an infrastructure, an office where we can build synergy with the other teams, but great support, access to inspiring mentors and of course a bridge to VCs and investors.” While this definitely seems like a Silicon Valley mentality, it is not an ecosystem you can easily recreate. Another reasons it will never be Silicon Valley is that Europeans are far from having the same respect for companies starting from scratch. Startupers.fr, le réseau de convivialité entre startupers. How to get a mentor (And keep them beyond the honeymoon) What if you could get business moguls to teach you everything they know?

How to get a mentor (And keep them beyond the honeymoon)

That’s how Dan Pena learned how to build a company from scratch, turning $820 into $450 million. But it wasn’t easy to get that advice, says Dan, founder of Great Western Resources, Inc. For instance, he spent months trying to get face time with Costa Gratsos, the CEO of Onassis Shipping Lines. “I tried to make an appointment, and he was booked up for six to eight months,” he says. After repeatedly trying and failing to get past Costa’s gatekeeper, Dan took a big risk. “Well,” Costa replied, “look what the doctors give me. In Dan’s Mixergy course, he shows you how to get industry giants to mentor you. 1. You don’t just need any mentor, you need the right mentor. “[Most people] go to the person that’s their uncle, or they go to the person that’s a friend of their uncle, went to school with their brother, as opposed to the person that is really right for them,” says Dan.

Why? So how do you find the right person? 2. 3.
