En la última década, la videoconferencia está siendo percibida como uno de los medios con más posibilidades didácticas en contextos de enseñanza superior. En sus inicios, la videoconferencia suplió las limitaciones espacio-temporales de la educación a distancia. Progresivamente, este medio fue encontrando un reconocimiento en instituciones convencionales de enseñanza propiciado por el desarrollo de experiencias de calidad basadas en la incorporación de recursos externos al aula. Siguiendo estas premisas, este artículo profundiza en las posibilidades pedagógicas de la videoconferencia, y presenta diferentes situaciones educativas en las que es posible utilizarlas. Por último, plantea unas orientaciones básicas sobre el proceso de planificación de una situación de enseñanza por videoconferencia.
