Ferrofluids Go Next Level Technicolor In Fabian Oefner's Amazing Images A ferrofluid is a magnetized liquid that creates all manner of bizarre patterns that look like the surface of a distant planet’s moon.

Ferrofluids Go Next Level Technicolor In Fabian Oefner's Amazing Images

Because of that, they’ve been featured in a ton of videos and artworks lately, but so far these have mainly been black and white, with maybe some silver thrown in to add a bit of pizzaz. But photographer Fabian Oefner is breaking with this monochromatic tradition by throwing water colors into the mix and bringing in some much-needed luminosity in his series Millefiori . Oefner’s alchemical magic is created by mixing a ferrofluid with water colors in a magnetic field.

The field causes the iron particles in the ferrofluid to lose their minds and start to rearrange themselves to form the black channels you see below, while the colors are injected into it using a syringe. Beyond Drawing: Creative Colored Pencil Art & Sculpture. From a very first look at these wonderfully detailed colored pencil sculptures by Jennifer Maestre, it should come as no surprise that her artwork was initially inspired by spiny sea urchins – beautiful be dangerous to the touch.

Beyond Drawing: Creative Colored Pencil Art & Sculpture

For each sculpture, Jennifer hacks apart hundreds of colored pencils, cores them perpendicular to their length and turns them into beads, essentially, which she then meticulously stitches back together and slowly shapes into solid sculptures. Though her beginnings were with creatures of the water, Jennifer quickly expanded her subject matter to cover other organic objects – from plants and flowers to house pets and more abstract animals.

While some of her work has a planned form from the very beginning, other pieces morph and shift as they take shape into something completely unplanned but nonetheless compelling.

Artist: Nanami Cowdroy. I LOVE Nanami Cowdroy!

Artist: Nanami Cowdroy

Her style of art is a refreshing twist on old school Japanese illustration… which makes sense since she’s half Japanese and half European. Throw in the fact that she’s Australian (oh man, that accent) and, as I said, I’m in love. I know, you’re supposed to separate the art from the artist, but I just can’t help myself. Anyway, her art is incredibly detailed, yet simple and easy on the eye with its flowing black and white design. From what I’ve noticed while trolling the internet, a number of people like Nanami Cowdroy’s art so much that they’ve decided to tattoo her designs on their bodies.

Edouard Martinet's Sculptures (11 pics)

Working with a variety of refuse materials such as rusted kitchen pans, typewriter keys, car lights and other scrap metals, Edouard Martinet sculpts several types of animals and insects. His sculptures are made without the use of solder. He fits each component into place as if putting together a puzzle of random pieces and parts. Each masterpiece is carefully assembled after having drafted several detailed sketches. This process requires a sufficient amount of time to get from the idea to the completion. via Edouard Martinet.
