My visit to Gujarat One of the pillars of development that I have thought a lot about is that we have to create a nation where poverty has been totally eradicated and illiteracy removed. Alongside, we need to evolve a society where crimes against women and children are absent and none in the society feels alienated. These thoughts were prominent in my mind during my visit to Gujarat in August 2002, which I took up as my first major task immediately after becoming President.

Meghamalai – A walk in the clouds | Traveler

http://in.lifestyle.yahoo.com/blogs/traveler/meghamalai-walk-clouds-051527541.html By Ramya Sriram If you're looking for a quiet escape to untouched, pristine lands, less of which seem to be remaining every day, then Meghamalai's your answer. Tucked away in the clouds of the Western Ghats, this little-accessible mountain range offers gorgeous views of lush green mountains, dense forests, teal lakes and, above all, peace.

Is Manmohan following Lalu’s no-growth Bihar strategy?

In a piece titled Farewell to Incredible India, which deals with the current economic problems in India, The Economist writes: “The Congress-led coalition government, with Brezhnev-grade complacency, insists things will bounce back.” Leonid Brezhnev was the General Secretary of the Central Committee (CC) of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). He ruled the country from 1964 till his death in 1982. I guess The Economist looked too far. They could have found someone right here in India to describe the complacency of the Manmohan Singh -led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government. The man I am talking about is none other than Lalu Prasad, the former railway minister and former chief minister of Bihar. http://www.firstpost.com/politics/is-manmohan-following-lalus-no-growth-bihar-strategy-345933.html

It’s not Greece: Cong policies responsible for rupee crash

http://www.firstpost.com/economy/dont-blame-greece-cong-policies-responsible-for-rupees-crash-318280.html All is well in India under the rule of the “Gandhi” family. That’s what Finance Minister Pranab Mukjerjee has been telling us. And that was the message that came through – with some minor qualifications – at UPA-2′s third anniversary meeting on Tuesday.
Other interesting facts about Bruce Lee’s amazing physical accomplishments include: Bruce Lee could land a punch in around five hundredths of a second (0.05 second) from 3 feet away, and from 5 feet away it was around eight hundredths of a second (0.08 second). Lee could take in one arm a 75 lb barbell from a standing position with the barbell held flush against his chest and slowly stick his arms out locking them, holding the barbell there for several seconds. http://www.omg-facts.com/Celebs/Bruce-Lee-Could-Snatch-A-Dime-Off-A-Pers/51598

Editors' note: This blog was originally posted on March 30, 2012, and updated on March 29, 2013, to update the list of devices and add relevant information. This last Sunday of March is World Backup Day, and you'll see a lot of storage/backup vendors taking this occasion to pitch their products. I am about to do a similar thing, but from a very different point of view: yours. This is because none of existing vendors goes as far as guaranteeing the integrity of storage on the products. At most, a vendor would give you a new product to replace the broken one, or in the currently unique case of IoSafe , offer to pay up to a certain amount toward data recovery. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57406658-1/top-external-storage-devices-backing-up-is-a-personal-matter/

Sport / Cricket : Selfish to say one should retire when on top: Tendulkar

AP I want to assure you that I won’t stop trying my best: Sachin Tendulkar. File photo A phenomenal century of hundreds under his belt but iconic Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is in no mood to consider retirement, as he feels going out on top is a “selfish thought“. Tendulkar struck his 100th international century in an Asia Cup match against Bangladesh on Friday, ending a year—long wait to get to the milestone which might remain unsurpassed. But the 38—year—old is not even thinking about bidding adieu to his over two—decade long career just yet. “My belief is that if I feel I can contribute, I am mentally there where I feel I am bringing value to the team then I should be playing. http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/selfish-to-say-one-should-retire-when-on-top-tendulkar/article3006436.ece
