Loves, Promise DIY - MAKE YOUR OWN WAX FOR HAIR REMOVAL - Fashion + Beauty on Shine I was chatting with someone on my flight back from my vacation. She lived in another country where salons are hard to come by or if they are around, they aren't very good. So, sometimes a girl has got to depend on herself. You can make one on your own so easily. So when I described it to her, she loved it and she said I just have to put it up online. Wax recipe Ingredients 2 cups sugar ¼ cup water ¼ cup lemon juice Method Pour the sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan, and heat it over a low flame. How do you know it is done? Take a glass of water and put a drop of wax into it. Benefits of making your own WAX: 1. Waxing strips: We used to do this in college all the time. Store-Bought Dry Shampoo? No! Crunch On This Instead Let’s get one thing straight, I’m no artist. You will see that below. What I am, though, is wondering what crazy rock I’ve been living under lately. I had no idea that companies had latched on to the dry shampoo idea, shoved chemicals in it, charged ridiculous amounts of money for it, and patted themselves on the back. Dry shampoo has been around for centuries, and it’s quick, easy and dagnabit cheap to make. What do you need to make this hot commodity product in your home? Cornstarch. Yes. Let’s look at my high-tech, artistically crafted graphic now. As you can see, I suggest that perhaps store-bought dry shampoo is expensive and unnecessary. In the spirit of transparency, though, I have to admit I guessed on how much the homemade dry shampoo would cost you. As you can also see, I included other things on the list that you can use – cornmeal and ground oats. Before I go any further into my rant, though, let’s talk about why you would want to use a dry shampoo. You need a dry shampoo.
...love Maegan: Messy Rope Braids and Low Bun Hair Tutorial... - StumbleUpon These little rope braids are a fun way to add a little style with your own hair, creating a sort-of headband of sorts. Your hair doesn’t need to be extremely long, but you do need some length to cover the top of your head with. If you have layers, you could instead create a tiny French Braid where the hair is shorter and closer to your head, if that makes sense. But it’s a fun and cute braided hair style that’s just a little different. I originally wore this style last Summer with two slightly larger braids Watch and Enjoy… * Notes: Instead of one large bun, create two or three little buns at base of your head OR swap the bun for a clean pony tail. Wear it Up… Wear it Down… * Just bobby pin them in place or use a pretty barrette * Click Here for my DIY Tassel Earrings shown above * Have Fun! Find all my Hair Tutorials here!
Phone Book Ballet Flats ***UPDATE***Make sure that you use FABRIC MOD PODGE or you might get cracking after you wear them for a while. I have worn mine constantly since I have made them and have had no issue. The FABRIC MOD PODGE can be purchased through PLAID. Mod Podge and Phone Books are a wonderful combinations that seem to be taking over the craft blogs I visit. I purchased a pair of ballet flats at Wal-mart for $3.00. Cut off the tag and discard. Take your mod podge and a foam brush. Rip a piece of phone book and press it down on the mod podge. Keep painting on the mod podge and layering on the phone book pieces. To finish off the bottom of the show you will want to put the corner on the piece like this. Fold it down, adjusting as you go. Then take your razor blade and run it along the very edge. Cover it with mod podge. Or you can place it on and when you get to the bottom instead of using a razor blade to remove the excess run your fingernail along the edge so it creases. Then fold the excess up.

How To Style Maiden Braids - A Beautiful Mess - StumbleUpon Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example). Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part. Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each. Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband. Steps 7-8: Pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail and pin it into a cute messy bun. Step 9: Add final pins and spray.

Get Yo' Nails Did - StumbleUpon Okay, so we’re only three weeks in to this whole thing and I’m already showing you a tame look after I totally promised some of you that I’d do a newsprint nail tutorial this week. Newsprint we can do next week, but for right now I wanted/needed a manicure by a professional. As I told you in the first “Get Yo’ Nails Did”, it’s important to include real manicures in your nail routine if you’re not comfortable cutting your cuticles and getting into the real work at home. I’m willing to shell out $20 bucks to have the dirty work done right, but I’m not going to splurge on nail art at the salon most of the time. That’s another thing: Remember that, while you should always be extremely polite to your manicurist, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want and to tell him/her if it’s not done correctly. For your own mental health, try to avoid those nail salons that feel more like cattle farms. The last thing I’m afraid of (beside death) is a little bit of contrast.
