Amsterdam was then an impoverished city, but several progressive local citizens were doing their best to boost the city’s finances. This was the era that saw the building of the Palace of Industry and the creation of the Vondelpark. Heineken too was forward-thinking. Alternative Amsterdam: Discover the Hidden Gems of Noord

Read on to find out more! Noord Noord is the part of Amsterdam situated north of the IJ river. To get there you have to a take ferry as there are no bridges, only tunnels which are accessible solely by car. For a lot of locals living south of the river Noord isn’t really counted as a part of the city, but they couldn’t be more wrong. The most famous part of Noord is called NDSM-Werf. Another weapon of Noord is the area near Central Station where you can find the Eye Film Institute and a couple of bars, for example Cafe ‘t Sluisje – these places know exactly how to differentiate themselves from the usual hangout spots. 24H Amsterdam Noord Next weekend the hippest district of Amsterdam will host a must-go event (October 26–27) called 24H Amsterdam Noord.

Westerpark -Nightlife & Things To Do in Amsterdam - LikeALocal Guide

The Westerpark is quite in the centre, but has only few tourists. What makes the Westerpark so cool is that it has much more going on than any other park. It has a cinema, a few restaurants, a jazz cafe, a bakery, a petting zoo, some great clubs and bars and also tv-studios. Ah, and it is the first park in The Netherlands with free WiFi! Why you should visit it Visit the Westerpark if you need a break from the crowded city and you don't want to get high because of a cloud of weed smoke hangin' around like in some parts of the Vondelpark. Special tip Every first Sunday of the month the 'Sunday Market Amsterdam' is held in Westerpark. Kriterion -Eating, Nightlife & Things To Do in Amsterdam - LikeALocal Guide.
