Homemade Ritz Crackers | Sweet Precision. In the third installment of my February Homemade Baking Challenge, I am sharing a Ritz cracker recipe that is so simple you won’t have to guess at any of the ingredients. During the course of this baking challenge I’ve learned that you literally can make anything you see in a prepackaged box or bag at the grocery store. The shapes and sizes might not be as perfect but I can guarantee that what you make will taste better! Ritz Crackers are a brand of snack crackers introduced by Nabisco in 1934.

They are circular in shape, salted lightly on one side, and have a small scalloped edge. This past Sunday was yet another snowy day here in Ann Arbor. Unfortunately, I don’t keep these crackers around the house due to my cracker monster husband and baby boy. Now I’m stuck with the need of going to the store, but I found a way around it. I can whip up a batch faster than grocery store run!

Get the quick & easy cheez-it recipe after the jump… How to Make Cheeze-its The Easy Way, by Macki For those of you without kids, this may be a slight exaggeration. This is what led me to my kitchen to peek in the cheese drawer and jump with delight at the sight of extra sharp white cheddar. All you have to do it bust out the food processor with the grater attachment and grate 8 oz of sharp cheddar (or whatever cheddar is in your fridge, but sharp is best). Remove the grater attachment and replace with the chopper. Slowly add 2 tablespoons cold water until a ball of dough forms. Use a pizza cutter to slice into squares. Hi, it’s Jaime again.

Last Saturday night we went to play B.I.N.G.O. Jason and I met my sister, her husband and other friends for a fun night of numbers and daubers. I didn’t win anything this time, and we all still had fun. One of our friends wasn’t able to make it, and she later explained she was sitting out in the cold the night before, at her sons high school football game, and was feeling under the weather. My first thought was to suggest she show up this Friday with a thermos full of hot soup. Then I started thinking of what I would bring to a football game these days.

I’ve gathered my favorite recipes from my own archive and that of some of my friends… these recipes are things I would bring to a football game on television at someones house, or what I would make at our place. How to Make Beef Jerky. “Homemade Fruit Leather” — The Official Site of Chef Georgia Pellegrini | Food, Travel, Lifestyle, Hunting and Redefining Slow Food. Fruit roll-ups were a big thing when I was growing up. There were so many iterations at one point that I was in pure fruit candy bliss. Then there were the healthy versions that we’d always find at the health food store. They were called “fruit leather,” because they were thicker and made out of pure fruit I suppose… not the other nasty bits that were probably in the fruit roll-ups. My editor told me that they needed a few more recipes for my book Food Heroes a little while ago for “layout” reasons. And since I had so many strawberries left over from the pie and shortcake I made, I gave this home made fruit leather a whirl.

And I’m so glad I did. I may or may not have eaten the entire tray. I may have. I did. You start by dicing up the strawberries into small pieces. Then in a pot they go, with a bit of water. And a squirt of lemon juice. Then you stew them. Next you place some plastic over a sheet tray and brush it with olive oil. Pour the mixture on the plastic covered tray. Like so. And voila! I did a thing I was not supposed to do.

I went shopping in a mood. More specifically, I went to Target slightly upset. Nothing earth shattering in my life. Everything is fine with me, but… I made the mistake of taking money into a shopping establishment while mentally mental. I came out on the other end of mood-shopping with the following (totally unexciting) items: - two giant bags of gummy bears. - four giant bags of candy corn. - really expensive bed sheets. – fancy shampoo. - so much shower gel (that I stood in the aisle and smelled forever…)(and I don’t even use shower gel). - an allergen-free mattress pad. - pajama bottoms (one pair… ok, three pairs). – a really alarming amount of cheese.

I also left with an exorbitant amount of really boring household items like paper towels and dish soap. Mood-shopping and no new shoes or nail polish? Gah! To settle my emotions, I sat in my car blank-staring and eating gummy bears. And just like that… all is well (or at least cheesier)! Xo! Kale Chips Recipe - Flavored Vegetable Chip Recipes. General Tso’s Roasted Chickpeas | A Sunshiny Day. These little guys were DELICIOUS! I was just trying to make some simple asian roasted chickpeas but they ended tasting a lot like General Tso’s chicken, so I felt like I needed to add it to the name. How delicious is General Tso’s chicken? We were just talking about it the other day and how it’s like crack and you can’t stop eating it no matter how full you are. Unfortunately it’s usually fried and puts you into an immediate food coma so I probably only have it once or twice a year. I tried a few chickpeas before I roasted them and it was SO good, I’m thinking maybe I’ll try stir frying them some time and come up with a little mock asian dish. These were an awesome little treat, crunchy, sweet, spicy & best of all FILLING! It’s nice to have a snack where you can eat a small amount and it actually fills you up. Time to stock the pantry with chickpeas, I’ll be making these guys again soon!
