Knit and Crochet Patterns and Accessories: Easy Knit Infinity Scarf Pattern: Mid-December

Here is a free knit infinity scarf pattern that will make you want to grab two skeins of super bulky yarn and size 19 knitting needles as fast as you can. The stitch was somewhat inspired by a double-breasted knit jacket in Easy Baby Knits by Claire Montgomerie. Blues Infinity Scarf - Free Pattern! I'm on spring break this week and I'm using my extra time to finally update you all on some of my completed knitting projects.

Blues Infinity Scarf - Free Pattern!

This newest one is a quickie that I already love wearing! I used Marble Chunky yarn that I got at a nearby Blick Art Materials on sale. It's a lot of yarn so if you can grab it while it's on sale I definitely recommend doing so. The color variegation plays out really well in the scarf. My only complaints are that the yarn splits very easily (it's 2ply and very loose) and I found about 3 knots in the skein. Blues Infinity scarf is a reversible circle scarf that has two unique sides that are warm and fluffy next to the skin.

Knitting Yarns: Garter Sideways Scarf. For those of you who love knitting scarves as much as I do, I had to do a blog on one of my favorite scarves to knit.

Knitting Yarns: Garter Sideways Scarf

A knitter told me once that a scarf knitted in garter stitch, done sideways, lays better than any other scarf. (Thank you, Cassandra). So, I set about making this scarf to see if she was right. I like my scarves to be from 80” to 90” long, and about 9” to 10” wide. For the first scarf I tested, I used one of my favorite luxury yarns. I used five colors of the Road to China Light. I was very pleased with the scarf. I do recommend that it be blocked when finished. Also, if you need a blocking board, we love the one we sell in our store. Here in the Caribbean, it's definitely not knitting weather outside.

Creating Laura: Three-Turn Cowl Knitting Pattern

Lucky for me, though, it's always knitting weather inside ice rinks, no matter where in the world they're located! With that in mind, I whipped up a chunky cowl for myself, and I'm loving wearing it at the rink. Before I started knitting this cowl, I played around with various stitch designs in my notebook and finally settled on a pattern with three vertical knit stitches and one purl stitch in between them. You can see the way I drew out the pattern in the picture below. I used little Vs to represent the knit stitches and dashes to represent the purl stitches. When I make up my own patterns, I almost always draw a diagram like this before I start knitting. Anyway, I named this project after a basic skating move, the three-turn, because I made it to wear during rehearsals, warmup ice time, and general hanging out by the ice (which I do a lot). Here are the details about the Three-Turn Cowl.Materials: 1. Bind off knitwise. How to make a chunky snood.

Days are getting shorter, the new season of your favourite TV show has just started, and Christmas is looming: it's time to pick up your knitting needles.

How to make a chunky snood

Learning to knit (or refreshing your skills after a craft-free summer) gives you the perfect opportunity to get creative, use your hands for something other than updating your Facebook status, and produce great gifts for your friends and family. And what better place to start than with this luxurious chunky snood? Big Herringbone Cowl. This winter New York City streets are filled with people who have learned the secret of keeping warm.

They are all wrapped up in the big soft folds of the oversized cowl. A long loop that you twist and double around your neck, it's definitely a glamorous touch in a what can otherwise be pretty frumpy season. Don't you love when fashion and function meet in such happy harmony? This cowl was inspired by Joelle's classic Herringbone Poncho from her very first book, Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I have always been so taken with the drape and texture of Joelle's poncho that I was really excited to borrow her idea for this project!

I stuck with Joelle's choice of yarn, Blue Sky's Worsted, because it is by far one of Purl Soho's softest, most cuddly yarns, perfect for wearing around sensitive skin areas like your neck. The cowl's final look keeps one foot in the past with a traditional herringbone stitch. The Materials 5 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca's Worsted, 50% Royal Alpaca and 50% Merino. Gauge.
