Yesterday as we were recovering from a wonderful Shavous holiday weekend, we made some melted hama (perler) bead bowls! You see, a good friend who stayed with us for the holiday just couldn't resist mopping my floors and doing some general cleaning, so when she suggested that maybe the kids could do a project, I most certainly had to step up to the plate! (I'm more than happy to trade crafting for house cleaning any time!)

Let me first start by saying that this may be one of my all-time favorite DIYs EVER... and I think my best DIYs come from pure necessity and/or a real desire to have something fabulous that I can't find elsewhere. For instance, I can NEVER find really great boot shapers ... thus, some of my boots are lying flat in their original boxes & others are standing with their original paper boards & tissue paper that came with them {very un chic !}. Really, when it comes down to it, I don't want to spend money on boot shapers but I also don't want to look in my closet and see a bunch of wine bottles or plastic bottles sticking out of my shoes.
A few weeks ago, after what seemed like a never-ending decor battle with my console table design layout {I know, so dramatic}, I decided that the wall above it, which is part of it, needed something that was pretty enough to draw attention but not so much as to distract the eye. It seemed like every mirror or work of art I hung or placed there became the focal point of the room, creating too much fuss, and it just wasn't working for me. It was then that I decided I needed something similar in color to the wall rather than contrasting it... and then as if from the heavens above, it finally hit me. A Juju hat was the obvious answer.

Step Six: Stick The Foam To The Block Key your wood with a knife or sand paper for a stronger hold. Then put glue from a hot glue gun or contact adhesive onto the foam, right up to the edges. Stick your foam shape onto your wooden block. Once it is on, turn your block over and add pressure for a stronger hold. Remember you will get a reverse image when printing, so any letters or numbers must be glued down in reverse.

If you are hosting some sort of party or event where plastic spoons will be used, you may want to consider asking your guests to put them in the sink instead of the trash can.
