How to Take HDR Pictures, Photo Gallery, Wallpaper -- National Geographic

This photo gallery features high dynamic range (HDR) photos—images that have a large exposure range, allowing for deeper contrast and detail in both shadows and highlights. The HDR effect can easily be overdone, leaving photos looking overprocessed, but when the techniques are used correctly, HDR pictures can have a stunning, otherworldly quality. Photo Tip: To create a good HDR (high dynamic range) photograph, use equipment that is a bit higher end than a simple point-and-shoot camera. The main items you’ll need are: a camera capable of capturing images in RAW format; a good, sturdy tripod; and software such as Photomatix or Photoshop. http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/photo-tips/hdr-high-dynamic-range-photos/#/dog-canyon-texas-hdr_25358_600x450.jpg

When choosing a photograph for the tilt-shift effect, bear in mind that you want to give the impression of a miniature model. Miniature models are usually viewed from above so try and choose a photo with an elevated viewpoint. Buildings, roads, traffic and railways are excellent choices but make sure there is a reasonable wide angle of view. Even before the tilt-shift effect has been applied, it's not too hard to imagine the scene as if it were a model. To find an appropriate image, we suggest you browse through the flickr tilt-shift fakes pool . http://www.tiltshiftphotography.net/photoshop-tutorial.php

PHOTO LOVECAT

http://photolovecat.blogspot.com/ see more lolcats I don’t know when or how the “Rockstar” stuff started in this community. I came into it in 2007 and I honestly didn’t know anyone from Adam. After spending some time online I saw some names were thrown around more than others but I didn’t really know one more than the other. I attended my first WPPI in 2008 and I was FLOORED to see girls squee-ing and giggling about taking a picture with Jesh de Rox. I had no clue who he was other than some guy who reminded me of a hippy from the 60s (mind you, nothing is wrong with that, my Dad was one).

Flip through this gallery for tips on taking the best people photos while traveling. Here, a colorful Havana woman enjoys an enormous cigar. The smokes are one of Cuba’s defining symbols—“Havanas” are renowned worldwide and have special cache among many aficionados in America, where their import remains illegal. Photo Tip: If you are making an outdoor portrait and don’t have the natural light you want, pose your subject in open shade, preferably in a setting that has something to do with the message you are trying to convey.

TheLightroomLab.com | Tips, tricks, tutorials, and more for photographers using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

By David Marx on January 02, 2012 | Comments 27 Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a wonderful image management tool but it is not a backup system. The best thing about street photography is that it is possible for the final viewer of a print to see more than the original photographer. One of the great things about a city is that more things are happening, even within a small neighborhood, at any moment than any human can comprehend. Photography allows us to freeze one of those moments and study all of the small dramas that were taking place. In this photo inside Greenwich Village's French Roast, the photographer was trying to get a picture of the tuned-out New Media exec with the women conversing in the background. The photographer carefully adjusted on-camera flash and ambient exposure so that the lighting is evenly balanced on subjects both inside and outside the restaurant.
