Regulation of Adult Neurogenesis by Psychotropic Drugs and Stress. + Author Affiliations Ronald S. Duman, Ph.D., Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities, Yale University School of Medicine, 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT 06508. E-mail: ronald.duman@yale.edu Abstract Proliferation and maturation of neurons has been demonstrated to occur at a significant rate in discrete regions of adult brain, including the hippocampus and subventricular zone. Moreover, adult neurogenesis is an extremely dynamic process that is regulated in both a positive and negative manner by neuronal activity and environmental factors. Throughout the modern neurobiological era, it has been widely accepted that no new neurons are added to the adult brain. Recent studies also demonstrate that the rate of neurogenesis can be regulated by environmental, endocrine, and pharmacological stimuli. Adult Neurogenesis Defined Neurogenesis in adult brain is characterized by DNA synthesis that occurs during the S phase of mitosis of dividing progenitor cells.

Social Consciousness: Consciousness, Creativity and the Brain (Transcendental Meditation) David Lynch explains his understanding about consciousness, creativity and the brain. He says that Transcendental Meditation played crucial role in developing his consciousness and boosting his creativity. “If you have a golf-ball-sized consciousness, when you read a book, you'll have a golf-ball-sized understanding; when you look out a window, a golf-ball-sized awareness, when you wake up in the morning, a golf-ball-sized wakefulness; and as you go about your day, a golf-ball-sized inner happiness.

But if you can expand that consciousness, make it grow, then when you read about that book, you'll have more understanding; when you look out, more awareness; when you wake up, more wakefulness; as you go about your day, more inner happiness.” -David Lynch Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a simple, natural method of allowing the mind to go beyond thoughts and gain access to the silent inner field of creativity, energy, peace, and happiness that is our own essential nature, our Self. Psilocybin and the Concept of Natural Intelligence. In this article, I examine some of the new modes of thinking catalysed by a traditionally esteemed shamanic agent, namely the psilocybin mushroom. I will argue that psilocybin can potentiate an eco-psychological experience in which an intelligent aspect to Nature can be directly ascertained. I will further argue that such an experience, such an insight into the intelligence inherent within Nature, has a significant curative role to play in our currently beleaguered relationship with the biosphere.

An Ivy Trail Leads the Way Some months ago a close friend and I found ourselves camping in a wild place far from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were deep in the heart of Snowdonia, a region of Wales where there are, thankfully, many untouched areas of wilderness still to explore. As it was autumn, we had managed to pick a moderate amount of psilocybin fungi which are readily available throughout Snowdonia at that time of year. This experiment is instructive. SETI versus SATI. About my art I’ve been painting for around 15 years; although, I didn’t throw myself into it fully until about seven years ago. I work mainly with acrylics, but I also create mixed media art and drawings from time to time. I live in Wichita, Kansas. I have a home-based studio and used to have an art gallery in Wichita’s Towne West Mall (closed due to Covid). I’m currently focusing on painting animals in a colorful style that I call visionary impressionism. My visionary impressionist paintings can pretty much be thought of as Impressionism 2.0. I paint the light and movement that I observe with my eyes, like the classical Impressionists did, but I also paint what I feel emotionally and sense intuitively.

Psychedelics & Consciousness (Short Documentary) A short documentary about psychedelics and their beneficial potential, featuring Jason Silva, Terence McKenna, Graham Hancock and Joe Rogan. Created by Omega Point “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behaviour and information processing. They open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong.” ―Terence McKenna “Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

“When the state sends us to prison for essentially exploring our own consciousness, this is a grotesque abuse of human rights. Related Posts.
